FIREFIGHTERS TACKLE TWO FIRES IN EUGENE FRIDAY

Eugene Springfield Fire Eugene, OR. Eugene Springfield Fire responded to two fires within about 30 minutes Friday afternoon.  At 1:12 PM on June 28th, firefighters were called to a structure fire at Edgewood Home Furnishings located at 155 Division Ave in North Eugene.  Firefighters arrived to find an exterior corner of the building on fire.  The fire was contained to the area of origin.  Witnesses reported the fire may have been set intentionally.  ESF Fire Marshals are investigating.  At 1:47 PM firefighters were called to a grass fire at 384 Wallis St in West Eugene.  Arriving crews found a fast moving fire in the grass.  In all about .15 of an acre was burned thanks to a quick response and deployment from Station 8. LANE COUNTY SHERIFF'S SEARCH & RESCUE ASSISTS DEPUTIES WITH RECOVERY OF DECEASED SUBJECT AT TERWILLIGER HOT SPRINGS

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office On Saturday, June 22 nd  at about 9 a.m., Lane County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue personnel and deputies responded to the Terwilliger Hot Springs to assist Upper McKenzie Fire Department with an unresponsive patient. Shortly after being dispatched, the subject was declared deceased. Search & Rescue assisted with carrying the subject along the hiking path down to the parking lot and deputies began an investigation into the cause of the person’s death. The subject was identified as Jesse James Calkins, 40, of Hines, Oregon. The circumstances of Calkins’ death do not appear to be criminal in nature.                    Click Here To Download Our App

Arrest Made In Convenience Store Armed Robbery

Salem Police Dept.   Salem, Ore.  — Salem Police Violent Crimes Unit detectives arrested two individuals yesterday afternoon for their involvement in the robbery of a local convenience store. On June 24, patrol officers responded to the US Market in the 2900 block of 12 th  ST SE at approximately 10:00 p.m. on the call of an armed robbery. Employees reported they were robbed at gunpoint by two young men who demanded cash and merchandise. The duo then fled the scene in a car. Using surveillance video of the incident, officers identified the involved vehicle and suspects. On Tuesday afternoon, June 25, the Salem Police SWAT team served a search warrant at an apartment in the 1200 block of Peace ST SE. Barry Johnson, age 23, and a 16-year-old male juvenile were taken into custody. A search by officers and detectives resulted in the seizure of two semi-automatic rifles, ammunition, and some of the merchandise stolen in the robbery. Polk County Man Sentenced To Life In Prison For Rape And Sexual Abuse Of Multiple Child Victims

Polk Co. Dist. Att.  DALLAS (OR) – Travis Michael Boatright, 38, was sentenced today to serve consecutive terms of life in prison without the possibility of parole after being found guilty of Rape in the First Degree involving three separate child victims by a Polk County jury on June 18, 2024.  Boatright, of Dallas, was sentenced by Polk County Circuit Judge Monte S. Campbell according to Oregon’s presumptive life sentence for persons convicted of two or more major sex crimes and Oregon’s Measure 11 minimum mandatory sentencing law and determinate sentencing laws.  After deliberating for less than an hour, the jury unanimously found Boatright guilty of three counts of Rape in the First Degree; two counts of Sodomy in the First Degree, five counts of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, five counts of Rape in the Second Degree, and one count each of Using a Child in a Display of Sexually Explicit Conduct, Luring a Minor, and Solicitation for Hindering Prosecution. A NEIGHBORHOOD DISPUTE RESULTS IN A FATAL SHOOTING - DETECTIVES INVESTIGATING

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office GLIDE, Ore . - Detectives are investigating a fatal shooting in Glide. On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, shortly before 10:30 p.m., 9-1-1 dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call reporting a male had been shot in the 400-block of Goodreau Lane during a neighborhood dispute. Bystanders were performing lifesaving efforts on the individual who had been shot. Deputies responded to the scene and initially detained the male shooter. The male who had been shot, 53 year old Stephen Lynn Foster of Glide, was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS. Detectives with the Sheriff's Office are investigating the incident along with the Douglas County Medical Examiner's Office. The other party involved, whose name is being withheld at this time, is cooperating with law enforcement. JMET Search Warrant: Sunny Glen Way, Wolf Creek

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office   On June 25, 2024, the Josephine Marijuana Enforcement Team (JMET) with the assistance of Josephine County Public Health & Building Safety, executed a search warrant in the 300 Block of Sunny Glen Way, Wolf Creek, regarding an illegal marijuana grow site. During the execution of the warrant, more than 2,600 marijuana plants were seized and destroyed. The property also had multiple electrical, water, and solid waste code violations. These violations could result in the criminal forfeiture of the property.  The primary suspect was not at the location during the search. They will be charged with Unlawful Manufacturing of Marijuana, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, and Unlawful Appropriation of Water if located. LINN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE INVESTIGATES VEHICLE CRASH IN FOSTER LAKE

Linn County Sheriff's Office Linn County Sheriff Michelle Duncan reports on June 21, 2024, at 5:13 p.m., Linn County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting a single vehicle had crashed into Foster Lake and was fully submerged.  Upon arrival, Deputies found a 1997 Toyota 4Runner submerged in the lake with an unknown number of occupants. Witnesses, Sweet Home Fire Department and Deputies attempted to locate occupants and initial efforts were unsuccessful. Linn County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team responded and located a single occupant, identified as Robert Anderson, 22, of Sweet Home deceased in the vehicle.  Deputies learned Anderson was traveling west on North River when the vehicle struck the embankment on the north side of the road. This caused the Toyota to overturn before entering the lake. At this time, it is unknown what caused Anderson to initially leave the roadway.  The investigation is ongoing, and Deputies are looking into contributing factors.  The

SALEM MAN IN CUSTODY FOR EARLY MORNING SHOOTING

Marion Co. Sheriff's Office On Sunday, June 23, 2024, shortly before 1:00 a.m., law enforcement personnel from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 5500 Block of Skyline Rd SE in Salem after a 911 caller reported a juvenile had been shot. Attempts to provide emergency medical assistance to the juvenile were not successful, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. The (16) year old juvenile's name will not be released. Marion County Sheriff’s Office Detectives identified David Ayon-Urbano (18) of Salem as the suspect in this investigation. He was arrested for Murder in the Second Degree and additional charges. NORTH RIVER DRIVE CRASH SENDS ONE BY LIFE FLIGHT

Sweet Home Fire Dist. At 9:03 pm Sweet Home Fire was dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle crash on North River Drive near Gedney Creek boat ramp. Initial information reported the passenger of the involved vehicle had been ejected with one other patient on scene.  Sweet Home Fire responded with a Battalion Chief vehicle, two medic units, and a rescue vehicle with a total of nine personnel.  The incident commander arrived and found a heavily damaged vehicle had struck a group of trees. The ejected occupant was found approximately thirty feet from where the vehicle came to a stop and the driver was able to self extricate with minor injuries.  Due to the severity of the passengers injuries a Life Flight helicopter was requested to transport the patient. Medics packaged and transported the patient to the helipad located at the Samaritan Urgent Care and transferred care to the Life Flight crew.  This is the seventh crash Sweet Home Fire has been dispatched to since Friday morning.

Sweet Home Crews Respond to a Vehicle That Crashed into Foster Lake

Sweet Home Fire Dist. At 5:13 pm this evening Sweet Home Fire was dispatched for a report of a vehicle into the water off of the Foster Dam. Bystanders reported that they witnessed the crash and did not see any occupants escape the vehicle. A Sweet Home ambulance crew was the first to arrive at the scene along with Officers from Sweet Home Police Department. One firefighter and one officer went over the bank to the scene where bystanders were in the water over top of the vehicle attempting to reach it and searching for any occupants. The firefighter entered the water and with the use of an SCBA made continuous attempts to access the inside of the vehicle, which was submerged in an estimated 6 feet of water, to search for the occupants. A Linn County Sheriff's Office boat, which was already on Foster Lake at the time of the incident, arrived on scene and supported rescue efforts. Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a food truck fire located at  90330 HWY 99 North in Eugene Friday Morning .  Firefighters were called to the scene  at 8:51 AM .  Initially reposted as a small structure fire, ESF responded with 3 engines and truck and chief officer. FIREFIGHTER RESCUES WOMAN AND CHILD IN THE MCKENZIE RIVER

Eugene Springfield Fire Springfield, OR.  Eugene Springfield Fire was called to a water rescue on the McKenzie River behind Riverbend Hospital.  At 2:23 PM on June 21 st , a 11 year old caller called Central Lane 911 reporting they were trapped in the current and screaming for help.  CLCC dispatchers were able to determine where the call was coming from and quickly dispatch ESF crews to the correct location behind the hospital.  One of ESF’s water rescue team members was assigned to Medic 6 for the shift and they were clearing the hospital when the call came in.  Firefighter Corbari immediate donned his water rescue gear and ran to the river with his partner.  The crew was able to quickly locate a 27 year old female tangled up by ropes and branches in a strainer (a deadly collection of trees and branches in the current) and the 11 year old in the boat caught in the strainer.  The 27 year old was not wearing a life vest, but the 11 year old was.  FF Corbari recognized the life threateni

CARE FACILITY EMPLOYEE ARRESTED IN GRANTS PASS FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF ELDERLY PATIENTS

Grants Pass Police Department Grants Pass, Oregon – On June 16, 2024, the Grants Pass Police Department received a report of sex abuse involving a patient and employee at a local nursing home. A subsequent investigation by Grants Pass Police Major Crimes Unit detectives, conducted with the assistance of the nursing home management, determined the suspect to be Michael Anthony Lee, a 28 year old male resident of Medford, Oregon. Lee is 6’0” tall and weighs approximately 220 pounds, with red hair and green eyes. Detectives determined that Lee had worked as a care home Certified Nursing Assistant in Grants Pass and Medford over the past three years. Lee allegedly targeted both female and male elderly victims for sexual assault, and it is anticipated additional victims have not yet been identified.  On June 20, 2024, Grants Pass Police detectives arrested Michael Lee at his recent place of employment in Grants Pass and lodged him at the Josephine County Jail for Sex Abuse in the 1 st  Degr
