Oregon State Police On Monday, January 24, 2022 at approximately 12:25 AM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near milepost 24.  Preliminary investigation revealed a northbound Toyota 4Runner, operated by Renee Sliger (19) of Medford, drifted off the roadway and rolled. Sliger was ejected from the vehicle. Sliger was transported to Rogue Regional Medical Center but had sustained fatal injuries and was later pronounced deceased.  OSP was assisted by Talent Police Department and ODOT.

Oregon State Police On January 24, 2022 at about 12:48 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a two vehicle crash on Highway 199 near milepost 10.  Preliminary investigation revealed that a white Toyota Corolla, driven by Eddie Bartley (72) of Grants Pass was driving north on Highway 199 and crossed into the oncoming, southbound lane of travel for unknown reasons. The Corolla impacted the front driver side of a blue Hyundai Elantra, driven by Kelly Martin (49) of Dallas.  Bartley sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased. Martin suffered severe injuries and was transported to Rogue Regional Hospital by ambulance.  Hwy 199 was completely closed for approximately 1 hour following the crash and traffic was reduced and controlled by Oregon Department of Transportation for approximately 3 hours upon opening the highway. Grants Pass Police Department On 01-22-2022, at approximately 9:15 pm, the Grants Pass Police Department responded to Flespy's Bar and Grill for a report of a male subject laying on the sidewalk, unconscious with blood on him.  Officers arrived on scene within one minute from the time of call and located citizens attempting to provide emergency medical treatment to a male subject laying near the front of the building.  Emergency personnel from Grants Pass Fire Rescue and AMR also responded and provided medical treatment to the male.  Despite the rapid response of emergency personnel, the male was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Detectives were notified and responded to assist with the investigation, as well as the Josephine County District Attorney and later the Oregon State Police Forensics unit.  Fruitdale Drive was closed for all traffic for approximately 4 hours while the scene was processed.  After clearing from the crime scene, detectives continued working on leads and fol

Portland Police Bureau On Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 12:42a.m., two East Precinct officers were stopped at a red light at Southeast 122nd Avenue and Southeast Division Street when a driver in a white 2007 BMW 328i sedan going southbound 122nd Avenue proceeded through a red light. The officers activated their police overhead lights to initiate a traffic stop for the violation. The driver immediately increased his speed, clearly indicating he did not intend to pull over as required by law. The officers did not pursue, turning off their overheads and slowing down. However, despite no police officers pursuing the driver, he continued at a high rate of speed southbound on Southeast 122nd Avenue. At Southeast Powell Boulevard, the BMW driver ran another red light and collided with a white 2015 Nissan Altima sedan going eastbound on Southeast Powell Boulevard. Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office ROSEBURG, Ore.  - On Thursday, January 20, 2022, deputies went to a trailer in the Rivers Edge Mobile Home Park to conduct follow up related to a criminal investigation. When they arrived, deputies heard a gunshot from inside the trailer where they were contacting an individual; which prompted a several hour stand off. Several law enforcement officers responded to the area and attempted to have the occupants to exit the trailer peacefully. Area residents and a nearby school were notified of the situation, which was confined to the trailer unit, and asked to avoid the area.   The Sheriff's Office Tactical Response and Crisis Negotiations Teams were activated and continued to diffuse the situation. After no response from the individuals inside, tactical action was taken which resulted in a female exiting the trailer a few minutes later. Salem Police Department Salem, Ore.  — Salem Police detectives, with assistance from the  Federal Bureau of Investigation, Portland Office , are seeking information related to a bank robbery at a Columbia Bank branch located in the 3300 block of Commercial ST SE. The robbery occurred near closing time on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 5:55 p.m. The male suspect entered the bank through the front doors displaying a handgun. The suspect demanded money from the employees, who complied with his demands. After receiving the money, the suspect left through the front door of the business.  Salem Police officers quickly arrived on scene but were unable to locate the suspect. The suspect was described by witnesses as a white, male adult, approximately 5’10” to 5’11” tall with a bigger build. He was last seen wearing a black mask, gray hooded sweatshirt, black jacket, black pants, and black gloves.  Anyone with information regarding the robbery is asked to call the Salem Tips Line at 503-588-8477.

Ashland Police Department On January 18, 2022 a Jackson County Grand Jury indicted Frederick Mark Hutchinson, 64, an Ashland resident, on the following charges: Sex Abuse 1 st  Degree, Sex Abuse 3 rd  Degree and Felony Delivery of Marijuana to a person less than 21. For months leading up to these crimes, Hutchinson actively “groomed” his victim, a 14-year-old boy. Hutchinson was arrested for this crime on January 13, 2022 and remains lodged at the Jackson County Jail with bond set at $150,000. The Ashland Police Department believes that there may be more victims and APD is requesting that anyone with additional information contact Detective Dan Moulin at 541-552-2178. Hutchinson’s mugshot is being released pursuant to HB 3273 which took effect January 1, 2022 and which states that mugshots may be released to the public in an attempt to identify additional victims .

Oregon State Police On Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at approximately 4:18 PM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a single motor vehicle crash on Hwy 20 near milepost 34.  Preliminary investigation revealed an eastbound white 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, operated by Jasper June Keeney (18) of Sweet Home, lost control while negotiating a curve and rolled into the eastbound ditch, coming to rest on its top.  Keeney suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.  Highway 20 was closed for 4.5 hours following the crash.  OSP was assisted by the Sweet Home Fire & Rescue and ODOT.

Oregon State Police   On January 17, 2022, an Oregon State Police Trooper and his K9 partner “Titan” stopped a vehicle on I-5 near milepost 224 in Linn County for a speed violation. During the traffic stop the driver, an adult male, was contacted. While the trooper was conducting the investigation, he observed signs of criminal activity. A consent search of the vehicle revealed 3 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, which was located in the trunk of the car.  Also in the vehicle, was the driver’s ten  and six year old daughters. The juveniles were taken into protective custody and later released to an aunt. The driver was taken into custody and the investigation is ongoing.

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On January 18, 2022, the Josephine Marijuana Enforcement Team (JMET) in partnership with Oregon State Police Southwest Region Drug Enforcement Team, Rogue Area Drug Enforcement Team, consisting of Grants Pass Police Department and Josephine County Parole and Probation, conducted a search warrant in the 400 block of Crystal Springs Road. Lane Co. Sheriff's Office A vehicle theft suspect is in custody after barricading himself in a stranger’s home in the Pleasant Hill area this morning.  The Lane County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police responded to the area of Edenvale Rd. and Filbert Ln. at approximately 8:30am. A citizen reported that their vehicle had been stolen from a location in Eugene and loaded onto a flatbed trailer. The citizen followed the vehicle until it became stuck in the mud at an address off of Edenvale Rd.  Responding units arrived at which time the suspect fled on foot and barricaded himself in a nearby house.  Deputies and troopers quickly established a perimeter and began loud hailing the suspect.  The Eugene Police Explosives Disposal Unit also responded and were able to safely approach the residence with the use of a remotely controlled robot.  The suspect was located by the robot hiding near a couch inside the residence.  He eventually surrendered and exited the residence.  He was tak

Oregon State Police On Friday, January 14, 2022 at approximately 5:25 PM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a two vehicle crash on Highway 42 near milepost 75.  Preliminary investigation revealed that a 1999 Ford Ranger Pickup, operated by James Chittum Jr. (75) of Roseburg, was southbound on Landers Avenue approaching the Highway 42 intersection. The Ford Ranger entered Highway 42 and into the path of a westbound Harley Davidson Motorcycle, operated by Brian Porter (54) of Roseburg. The Harley Davidson motorcycle crashed with the Ford Ranger causing Porter to be ejected from the motorcycle. Two eastbound passenger cars, a Toyota Avalon, operated by Max GODEK (73) of Winston, and a Honda Civic, operated by Sylas Moore Fain (28) of Dillard, collided with Porter in the roadway.  Porter sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.
