FIREFIGHTER LOSES LIFE BATTLING MIDDLE FORK COMPLEX

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office On Monday August 23 rd  2021, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office was advised of an incident involving a firefighter working the Gales fire within the Middle Fork Complex. The firefighter was killed in an accident.  Lane County Sheriff’s deputies along with partners from numerous other agencies are on scene and conducting an active investigation.  No other firefighters or personnel are reported to have been injured during this incident.  The Lane County Sheriff’s Office is working right now to notify the victim’s family.  Additional details will be released tomorrow as they become available.

WEST EUGENE HOUSE FIRE

Eugene Springfield Fire Eugene Springfield fire crews responded to a house fire in West Eugene this afternoon. On arrival the first two companies found extensive fire moving from the garage into the house.  Initial companies made an aggressive fire attack to keep the fire from spreading to adjacent homes, and throughout the main house. Subsequent companies brought water from a fire hydrant and positioned ladders to extinguish the attic fire. All occupants were able to exit the structure without injury.  The fire is under investigation.

AMBER ALERT RESCINDED IN OREGON

Multnomah Co. Sheriff's Office Updated Release:  Based on information received by law enforcement detectives, the Amber Alert for Derek Michael Rowley is being rescinded. Detectives have reason to believe the suspect is not in the Multnomah County area and may be  currently in Nevada . While the Amber Alert is canceled in Oregon, the Amber Alert in Carbon County, Utah, is still active, and the suspect and two children remain unaccounted for. We appreciate the public’s attention and assistance.

SUTHERLIN MAN DIES IN SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH ON DRIVER VALLEY ROAD

Sheriff's Office OAKLAND, Ore.  - A Sutherlin man died Thursday afternoon in a single vehicle crash in the 2100-block of Driver Valley Road.  On Thursday, August 19, 2021, at approximately 2:45 p.m. 9-1-1 dispatchers received reports of a single vehicle crash in the 2100-block of Driver Valley Road. The Sheriff's Office along with fire and EMS personnel were dispatched to the scene.  Deputies arrived to discover a white 1995 Ford F250 pickup with one occupant that had crashed while traveling eastbound on Driver Valley Road. The driver failed to negotiate a corner before crashing. The driver, 43-year-old Austin Wayne Ward of Sutherlin was pronounced deceased at the scene. Ward was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash. The investigation determined speed to be a contributing factor. The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Oakland Fire Department, Umpqua Valley Ambulance and Roseburg Towing.  Case #21-3749

Sheriff's Office On Friday, August 20, at 11:03 a.m., the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a suspect related to an  Amber Alert, issued in Carbon County, Utah ,   was possibly in the Fairview area. MCSO deputies and Gresham Police officers responded to the 21000 block of NE Sandy Blvd. and began performing area checks for the person of interest, Derek Michael Rowley, 33, who is suspected of abducting two children from Price, Utah. Amber Alert information: Abduction time: August 18, 2021, 1:00 am  Suspect information: Derek Michael Rowley, 33-year-old male. Described as white with blonde hair and blue eyes. He is 6,’ 190 pounds with a tattoo on the left side of his neck of a crown, on his right hand of a skull, and he has tattoos on his left arm. Vehicle description: Gold, 2004 Chevrolet Silverado with Washington license plate C66780T. The pickup truck is a flatbed and is towing a white fifth wheel camp trailer with Washington license plate 5131

Gold Hill Murder Suspect Arrested

Jackson County Sheriff's Office JCSO Case # 21-4397   GOLD HILL, Ore. – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) detectives are investigating a homicide that occurred early this morning in Gold Hill, Ore. The 18-year-old male suspect is in custody.   At around 3:54 a.m. Thursday, Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon (ECSO) dispatch received a report of gunshots, screaming, and subjects fleeing the scene on the 500 block of Gustaf St. in Gold Hill. JCSO deputies arrived to find the victim not conscious or breathing and Jackson County Fire District Three (JCFD3) rendered aid until Mercy Flights medical personnel arrived. Medford Police Department (MPD) assisted at the scene.   At around 4:17 a.m. ECSO dispatch received a report of the suspect’s location and he was quickly detained without incident. Hailey Blackwell was last seen on the afternoon of August 17, 2021 after she left home on a walk to Subway (on Agness Avenue). Hailey was last seen wearing all black clothing with dark makeup. Gresham Police Dept UPDATE: MISSING ADULT LOCATED Gresham, Ore.— Gresham Police are looking for help from the public in searching for a missing adult. On Sunday, August 15, 2021 at 6:00pm, a man was dropped off at the Safeway at SE Powell boulevard and SE 182 nd  avenue by family members to go for a walk on the Springwater Trail, and has not been seen since.  The man, 40-year-old Benjamin Allen, of Ridgefield, Washington, is developmentally delayed, and he often goes for walks along the Springwater Corridor by himself. He is described as 5-feet-11-inches tall, weighing 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a short-sleeved white button-up shirt, black jeans, and white tennis shoes. UPDATE-SEARCH WARRANT EXECUTED ON ILLEGAL MARIJUANA CULTIVATION OPERATION

Sheriff's Office This is an update to the flash alert sent out Tuesday August 17th, 2021 regarding the search warrants served at the Q Bar X Ranch in Kerby, Oregon.  As a result of the search warrants, interviews were conducted with 200 workers at the sites.  As expected, the workers relayed no concerns of humanitarian violations.  According to the Homeland Security Investigations and the Federal Bureau of Investigations, this is a common occurrence.  The workers may be in fear of retaliation to themselves or family members, not being paid and immigration status concerns among others.  All workers were allowed to leave the property or stay on their own free will. At the conclusion of the operation, 10 firearms and $140,000 in cash were seized, 72,283 marijuana plants were destroyed along with 6,000 pounds of processed marijuana.  373 green houses were also destroyed. SOUTH COUNTY RESIDENT TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AFTER SHOOTING AT DEPUTIES

Sheriff's Office CORVALLIS, Ore.  – On August 17, 2021, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Benton County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) Deputies responded to the area of the 26000 block of Foster Road in rural Benton County for a report of a male actively shooting a firearm in the direction of construction workers at a private residence in the area.   Deputies established a perimeter of the area and evacuated the construction crew. The Linn-Benton Alert was utilized to notify immediate residents in the neighborhood of the active threat and to shelter-in-place. Deputies on scene attempted to make contact with the suspect and were met with gunfire from the property. During this time, a total of nine shots were fired in nine minutes from the property.   The Linn County Sheriff’s Office Regional SWAT team responded to assist BCSO. UPDATE: SUSPECT ARRESTED IN DOMINIC JACOBY HOMICIDE

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.— Alec James Baldridge, 23, of   Gresham   was arrested on Monday night for the shooting death of Dominic Jacoby. The Multnomah County Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide.    The East County Major Crimes Team began investigating the case on Friday morning when patrol officers located Jacoby deceased alongside evidence of gunfire. Details surrounding the homicide are not being released at this time.    Baldridge is booked at the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Murder in the Second Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.    Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of the shooting and are asking for any additional witnesses to please call the Gresham Police tip line at 503-618-2719 or toll free at 888-989-3505 . Roseburg Police Dept. On February 22, 2021 at 2:56 pm, Roseburg Police Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the Budget 16 Motel, at 1067 NE Stephens. Off duty Patrol Sergeant Doug Walton was across the street at the OK’s Auto Supply gas station getting fuel for his personal vehicle. Upon witnessing the shooting, Sgt. Walton immediately called to report the incident. Sgt. Walton remained on the phone and provided updated information that was shared with responding Law Enforcement. The investigation later revealed Spring Mack and Jessica Ashley both sustained serious gunshot injuries. Michael Benson was pronounced deceased at the scene and it was determined he succumbed to a gunshot wound. Sgt. Walton observed Devin McNamara fleeing the motel parking lot, armed with a handgun but seemingly out of ammunition. Sgt. SERIOUS SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office DAYS CREEK, Ore.  - A woman and her passenger were injured in a serious single vehicle crash Sunday evening on Tiller Trail Highway. On Sunday, August 15, 2021, around 6:00 p.m. 9-1-1 dispatchers began receiving reports of a single vehicle crash with entrapment in the 19000-block of Tiller Trail Highway near Days Creek. Deputies along with fire and EMS personnel responded to the crash. Deputies discovered a 1993 Jaguar, which had rolled. The driver, 65-year-old Ginger Kapiolani Gramberg and her 62-year-old passenger Robert Butler both of Tiller, were trapped inside of the vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency crews. Butler received minor injuries and declined medical assistance. Gramberg sustained serious injuries and was flown from the scene by REACH Air Medical Services to Sacred Heart at Riverbend in Springfield. OAKLAND MAN ARRESTED FOR MANSLAUGHTER

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office OAKLAND, Ore.  - An Oakland man has been arrested and charged with the death of his 81-year-old stepfather. On Saturday, August 14, 2021, shortly after 5:30 p.m., 59-year-old Anthony Catrell Wadley-Wright of Oakland turned himself in at the Sutherlin Police Department. He reported he had assaulted his 81-year-old stepfather, Albert Bertrand Carrington, at the family home in the 300-block of Brad Road. The assault occurred sometime during the previous night and had gone unreported to emergency services. EMS and law enforcement responded to the residence where they found Carrington unconscious and badly injured. Carrington was transported by air ambulance to Sacred Heart at Riverbend. Carrington succumbed to his injuries late Sunday afternoon. DUPLEX RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE FIRE - 1000 BLOCK OF NEVADA COURT

Roseburg Fire Dept. At 12:24 a.m. on August 16, 2021, Roseburg Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 1000 block of Nevada Court Avenue.  Douglas County Dispatch received notification of a porch on fire next to the residential structure of the reporting party. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a multi-family, residential duplex with fire and smoke showing from the front porch of one unit.  The fire quickly spread to the residential structure.  Firefighters made an exterior attack to extinguish the fire, conducted a primary and secondary search, secured utilities, and completed overhaul.  Three adult residents, three children, and one dog were displaced due to the fire; however, no one was injured in the fire. FATAL CRASH ON INTERSTATE 5 - LINN COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Sunday, August 15, 2021 at approximately 10:40 A.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel were responding to a wrong way driver when it became a two vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near milepost 212. Preliminary investigation revealed a Volkswagen Jetta, operated by Shiloh Edsitty (29) of Albany, was southbound in the northbound lanes and collided with a Freightliner semi-truck operated by Phillip Paylor (55) of Grants Pass.  Edsitty sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.  Paylor was not injured. OSP was assisted by Halsey Shedd Fire Department and ODOT.

MAN DIES WHILE SWIMMING IN HAGG LAKE

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office On Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 3:35 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a swimmer who had gone under water in Henry Hagg Lake. Marine patrol deputies were already on the water for regular patrol when multiple 911 calls came in. Deputies were told the man was kayaking in the lake in the area of Boat Ramp C when he got out to swim. The man, identified as 61-year-old Satoru Kamoshita of Beaverton, went under the surface and did not come back up. Despite efforts from other people at the lake and the marine patrol deputies, they were not able to find him. The Lake Oswego Fire Department dive team responded and found Kamoshita’s body around 6:20 p.m.

VEHICLE THEFT SUSPECT SHOT

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office LCSO #21-4549 – Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle On 08/14/2021 shortly after 8:00am deputies responded to the 11300blk of E. Mapleton Rd. after receiving report that an unknown male was trying to steal a motorcycle from the location. A resident confronted the male with a handgun.  The male was shot in the leg before deputies could arrive.  Once on scene, deputies and medical personnel were able to detain and stabilize the male for transport to an area hospital.  The male was identified as 25 year old Michael Wayne Vincent.  His condition is currently unknown.  This investigation is still in early stages and additional details will be released when they become available.  Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Lane County Sheriff’s Office at 541-682-4150 opt. 1

FATAL CRASH ON HWY 101- LINCOLN COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Friday, August 13, 2021 at approximately 8:51 A.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a two vehicle crash on Hwy 101 near milepost 121. Preliminary investigation revealed a Dodge Durango, operated by James Versteeg (46) of Gleneden Beach, was northbound when it crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a Chevrolet Silverado, operated by Lewis Ford (41) of Lincoln City.  Versteeg and Ford sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased. Hwy 101 was closed for approximately 4 hours.  OSP was assisted by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Lincoln City Police Department, Depoe Bay Fire Department, North Lincoln Fire and Rescue, Pacific West Ambulance and ODOT.

Suspect Charged After Video Of Theft Posted Online

Eugene Police Department On August 13, 2021, Eugene Police property crimes detectives observed video of a bike theft that was posted to YouTube and shared online. Police received information that the bystander, who recorded the video, happened to be in the area when he observed the suspect, Allen Clayton Townsend, age 33, of Eugene, steal a bicycle from outside Brail’s Restaurant at 1689 Willamette Street. Townsend subsequently rode off on the bike, and the bystander followed on an electric scooter and is observed in the video telling Townsend several times to drop the bike.  The bystander continued to follow Townsend toward campus. Townsend eventually dismounted from the bike, tripping the bystander while also falling to the ground, and is then viewed aggressing the bystander before fleeing from the location on foot. The bystander returned the bike to the location and victim from where it was stolen.  Townsend was in custody at the Lane County Jail after a previous arrest on unrelated

GRESHAM POLICE INVESTIGATE EARLY MORNING HOMICIDE

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.-In the early morning hours of Friday, August 13th, 2021, Gresham Police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of SE 15th street/SE Woodland drive. When officers arrived, they located a victim on the ground who had been shot. Medical personnel were called, but the victim died at the scene. The victim, a 21-year-old male from Gresham, is not being identified publicly yet as this is a very active investigation. Gresham Police detectives and members of the East Multnomah County Major Crimes Team (MCT) responded to investigate the scene. They are processing evidence that was collected and are following up on tips that have already been sent in to investigators and are trying to determine what lead to this incident. OREGON NATIONAL GUARD DEPLOYS GUARDSMEN TO WILDFIRES

Oregon Military Department PORTLAND, Ore. – Twenty Airmen with the Oregon Air National Guard’s 142nd Wing have departed Portland en route to support wildland fire fighting efforts across the state of Oregon. This effort from the Oregon Military Department is a part of Operation Plan (OPLAN) Smokey, an effort by the state whose focus is to fight wildland fires with a combined force of guardsmen, fire fighters, and emergency operators. Oregon Air National Guard Master Sgt. Bernard Untalan, 142nd Wing OPLAN Smokey Coordinator, says these deployments have a profound effect on the Airmen. “OPLAN Smokey is a tremendous and meaningful opportunity for our citizen-airmen to assist our state during its most dire hour. Douglas County Sheriff's Office Four firefighters assigned to the Skyline Ridge Complex were transported by ambulance this morning after a rollover crash.  On Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at approximately 9:53 am, 9-1-1 dispatchers were alerted to a reported single vehicle rollover crash in the 15000-block of Tiller Trail Highway.  Deputies arrived on scene to learn that a crew vehicle transporting fire personnel from their night shift work assignment on the Skyline Ridge Complex had struck approximately 60-70 feet of guardrail before driving up a hillside and rolling over.  The crash resulted in non-life threatening injuries to the involved firefighters. The injured personnel are part of a 20-person crew assigned to the fire. The other members of the crew traveling in two additional vehicles were not involved in the accident.  Fire and EMS crews responded, including medical personnel assigned to the fire. RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE FIRE - 100 BLOCK OF KRISTEN COURT

Roseburg Fire Dept. At 1:20 p.m. on August 11, 2021, Roseburg Fire Department personnel responded to a reported structure fire in the 100 block of NW Kristen Court.   Upon arrival on scene, firefighters found a single story, residential structure with smoke showing from the bathroom window of the home.  Firefighters conducted a primary and secondary search, made an interior attack to extinguish the fire and completed overhaul.   The fire was contained to the bathroom portion of the structure.  The home sustained structural, smoke, and water damage.  The displaced family included four adult residents and two children.  One adult resident suffered smoke inhalation and was treated on scene by Umpqua Valley Ambulance.  The resident was not transported.  A fire investigator was on scene and the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental and most likely electrical in nature.  Twelve firefighters assisted with firefighting operations.  Other agencies assisting with the fire included Um

Medford Police On Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at about 6:50 a.m., law enforcement in Jackson County was advised to be on the lookout for a vehicle that was stolen during an armed carjacking in Canyonville, Ore. During that incident it was reported the suspect was armed with a black revolver. At 7:07 a.m., officers from the Central Point Police Department (CPPD) located the vehicle traveling south bound on I-5 near mile marker 35. A traffic stop was attempted on the vehicle and the suspect began driving at a high rate of speed in attempts to elude the officers. As the incident continued through numerous jurisdictions in Jackson County, officers from the Medford Police Department (MPD), Oregon State Police (OSP), CPPD, Phoenix Police Department, and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies made multiple attempts to get the suspect to pull over, to include several attempts to use spike strips.  Due to the severity of the incident in Canyonville and the imminent risk to the public,
