ILLEGAL MARIJUANA SEARCH WARRANT

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On Wednesday, May 26, 2021, a search warrant relating to an illegal marijuana grow operation was served in the 8000 block of Monument Dr, Grants Pass, OR.  Members of the Josephine Marijuana Enforcement Team (JMET) served the warrant in partnership with Oregon State Police, Rogue Area Drug Enforcement (RADE, consisting of Grants Pass DPS, OSP, Josephine County Parole and Probation), Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team (IMET, consisting of Jackson County SO, Medford PD), Oregon Liquor Control Commission, Oregon Department of Agriculture, Josephine County Water Master and Josephine County Code Enforcement. During the execution of the search warrant, 30,673 illegal marijuana plants were seized and destroyed. Additionally, six firearms, multiple water pumps and generators were seized as evidence. SHOOTING INCIDENT

Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On 05-24-2021, Grants Pass 911 received a disturbance call in the 500 block of NW Butler Ave.  As officers were responding, it was reported the disturbance involved a 19-year-old male, later identified as Zenobius Lyon, and his 17-year-old brother.  During the altercation, Zenobius allegedly used a firearm and shot his juvenile brother.  The father of the two siblings attempted to intervene and was injured during an altercation.   As officers arrived on scene, they located the juvenile male outside of the residence and immediately rendered emergency medical care for a gunshot wound.  Grants Pass Fire-Rescue personnel and medics from AMR arrived shortly thereafter, continued aid and transported the juvenile to the Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford. Josephine County Sheriff’s Deputies also assisted police officers establishing a perimeter around the home.  Officers also contacted the father, and safely ...

HARRY BURLEIGH FOUND ALIVE

Sheriff's Office IDLEYLD PARK, Ore.  - After 17 nights in the wilderness, 69 year-old Harry Burleigh has been found alive and rescued by Search and Rescue crews who never gave up.  On Sunday, May 23, 2021, Douglas County Search and Rescue conducted another mission in the area of Calf Creek after Burleigh's fishing gear was found last weekend. Additional SAR resources were called in from Jackson County, Lake County and  Siskiyou County (CA) for Sunday's efforts.  At approximately, 3:00 p.m., a team of searchers from Jackson County SAR located a shelter southwest of the original shelter found last weekend. The search crews called out to Mr. Burleigh who responded back. He was found to be walking and complaining of minor pain, but was in stable condition. A Brim Aviation helicopter was utilized to hoist Burleigh from his location and transport him to a waiting Lifeflight helicopter. Lifeflight later transported him to an out of area hospital for evaluation....

CHICKEN COOP HEAT LAMP SPARKS 2-ALARM FIRE

Sweet Home Fire Dist. A fire that began in a chicken coop rapidly spread to a home today in Sweet Home.  The residents narrowly escaped, one of them pulled from the window of the burning building by bystanders.  The initial 911 call came in at 9:02 am from a neighbor who first noticed the fire burning at the top of the chicken coop.  The first-arriving fire unit was on scene at 9:08 am, finding 2/3 of the home not visible through the flames.  Fire had spread through the carport and engulfed an apartment at the back of the home, as well as the main house.  Firefighters from Sweet Home Fire, Lebanon Fire, and Brownsville Fire fought the two-alarm blaze, with units from Halsey Fire and Lebanon Fire responding to cover the Fire District for other emergencies.  A downed, live power-line made access to the fire and to a water source challenging, adding a significant hazard for firefighters.  The fire was brought under control by 10:13 am, but firef...

Suspect in Custody After Shooting

Eugene Police Department Eugene Police responded to a shooting at a  90 Commons residence at 1:03 a.m. this morning. One person, a female, was shot and the suspect fled.  Eugene Police Violent Crimes Unit responded along with Patrol units to investigate and search for the suspect. The woman was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, and remains under care.  The suspect, Anthony Michael David Baker, age 21, was taken into custody at 9:48 this morning at a residence in the 3rd and Main area of Springfield. He is being charged with Assault in the First Degree (Firearm). There are no outstanding suspects in this case, however there may be witnesses or tips that could be helpful. Eugene Police Department Eugene Police Department and Eugene Springfield Fire Department responded to an industrial incident in which one person was killed. The incident occurred at 3:10 p.m. today, outside of Kelly Middle School, 850 Howard Avenue.  Eugene Police are withholding the name of the person, to give the family time to notify others in their circles.

Portland Police Bureau An out-of-compliance sex offender was arrested after officers discovered him with a missing juvenile and convinced him to drop a hatchet. On Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 11:33p.m., East Precinct officers were dispatched to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the 14600 block of Southeast Harrison Street. Officers arrived and found two unconscious males inside, one adult and one that appeared to be a juvenile. An officer recognized the adult as Jeremy M. Fanning, 34, who is a registered sex offender. They were concerned for the health and welfare of both people, but especially the juvenile. Their concerns were further heightened by what appeared to be drug paraphernalia seen in the car. The officers made numerous attempts to rouse them over about 10 minutes. When that was not successful, an officer breached the driver’s side window. This caused Fanning and the juvenile to wake up. DEPUTIES RESPOND TO SMALL PLANE CRASH NEAR EUGENE

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office A small Cessna aircraft has crashed into a field near Green Hill Road and Meadowview Road near the Eugene Airport.   One person has been transported to a hospital for medical treatment. The identification of the person, as well as the extent of injury, is not available at this time.   Community members are asked to avoid the area to allow emergency responders to work. Lane County Sheriff’s Office is coordinating with federal officials, including the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), to conduct an investigation.   No information is available yet on the cause of the crash .

DINT ARRESTS

Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) On Wednesday, May 19th, 2021, at approximately 1:00 PM, detectives with the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) arrested 3 subjects in the parking lot of a business in the 200 block of Grant Smith Road, in Roseburg (Green District).  This was part of an ongoing joint investigation between the Roseburg Police Department and DINT.     Detectives contacted the three individuals in the parking lot, and they were immediately detained.  Two of the individuals were arrested on outstanding warrants for their arrest.  A search of the individuals and their vehicle revealed approximately 2 ounces of methampetamine, a small amount of heroin, 2 handguns, and other drug paraphernalia.     33 year old Spencer Hopkins, of Roseburg, was lodged at the Douglas County Jail on charges of Unlawful Possession and Delivery of Methamphetamine, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and the warrant for his arrest, which was f...

ROGUE RIVER HIGHWAY STANDOFF

Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On the afternoon of Tuesday, May 18, 2021, the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety (GPDPS) was contacted by the United States Marshals Service (USMS) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) regarding two fugitives believed to be traveling from the state of Washington to Grants Pass, Oregon. The suspects, 36-year-old Guillermo B. Othon and 26-year-old Cierra B. Larsen, had felony warrants for their arrest out of Thurston County, Washington. In addition to the no-bail warrants, Othon and Larsen were wanted in connection with a home invasion robbery involving the use of firearms, which also occurred in Washington. Both suspects were considered armed and dangerous and were traveling with their 4-year-old daughter to a residence in the 1800-block of Rogue River Hwy.
