  Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On Sunday, 11/15/2020 at about 0655 hours, the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety (GPDPS) received a call from Three Rivers Medical Center about an assault incident. A 19 year-old female victim, who is a Grants Pass resident, was being treated for a serious head injury in the emergency room. It was said the assault took place in the 900 block of NE D Street, Grants Pass, Josephine County, Oregon. GPDPS Patrol Officers responded to TRMC to begin an investigation. The victim was in stable condition and subsequently transported to a Eugene area hospital for further treatment.  A GPDPS Detective responded to assist. During the course of the investigation, 23-year-old Grants Pass residents Yasmine McGinnis, Zahira Azamar and Morgan Riley were identified as the suspects. WOMAN SOUGHT IN CONNECTION WITH STRONG-ARM ROBBERY

Sheriff's Office On Thursday, November 13, 2020, at 7 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies serving the City of Cornelius responded to a reported strong-arm robbery at a farm and ranch store in the 3800 block of Baseline Road. When they arrived, store employees reported that an adult woman was seen walking throughout the store, loading items into a baby stroller, which was partially covered by a blanket. She then walked past all cash registers to exit the store, without paying for the items.   When contacted near the front door, the female suspect assaulted a store employee. Fortunately, the employee was not injured. It was later determined by store personnel that the items the woman attempted to steal were valued at almost $700. Under Oregon law, a theft becomes a robbery when a suspect uses, or threatens to use, physical force upon another person with the intent of overcoming the efforts of store employees/loss prevention officers. MAN ARRESTED AFTER ATTEMPTING TO PHOTOGRAPH VICTIM IN RESTROOM

  Portland Police Bureau A man was arrested after trying to photograph a female victim in the restroom stall at Lloyd Center Mall. On Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 12:20 p.m., North Precinct officers were dispatched to Lloyd Center, 2201 Lloyd Center, on a priority sex offense call. When officers arrived they found a suspect was being detained by mall security. Officers learned that a female victim was using the restroom when the suspect attempted to take a photograph. The victim confronted the suspect and notified security. The suspect was identified as Jared W. Walter, 33, of Portland. Walter was transported to the Detective Division where Sex Crimes Unit detectives performed further investigation. Investigators lodged Walter at the Multnomah County Detention Center for Attempted Invasion of Personal Privacy in the First Degree. This investigation is continuing.

POLICE SERGEANT INJURED BY HIT AND RUN DRIVER

  Portland Police Bureau A Portland Police sergeant suffered minor injuries after his vehicle was rear-ended by a driver who ran off and has not yet been located. On Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 11:40p.m., a North Precinct sergeant in a fully marked Portland Police Ford utility vehicle was stopped at a red light, southbound on North Vancouver Avenue at North Fremont Street. A suspect driver in a Chevrolet Impala rear ended the sergeant's car (photos). The sergeant was able to notify dispatch via radio, then updated that he was seeing the driver running from the crash. Additional units responded and searched for the suspect, but he has not been located. A female passenger in the Impala was uninjured. The driver was described as a heavyset adult black male wearing a red hooded sweatshirt. The sergeant was transported by police vehicle to a hospital, treated, and released. The investigation is continuing.

TRI-PLEX RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE FIRE - 377 SE ELLA STREET - 11-12-20

  Roseburg Fire Dept. At 9:29 p.m. on November 12, 2020, Roseburg Fire Department personnel responded to a reported residential structure fire at 377 SE Ella Street.  Dispatched received reports that the residential structure was filling with smoke and the reporting party believed smoke was coming from the attic.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke showing from the attic of a residential tri-plex.  All occupants were out of the home upon arrival.  Firefighters extinguished the attic fire and conducted extensive overhaul.  The fire displaced five adults, five cats, and one dog.   The American Red Cross responded to the scene and assisted the displaced residents. SUSPICIOUS DEVICES FOUND AT ROSEBURG HIGH SCHOOL PARKING LOT

  Roseburg Police Dept. On Thursday, November 12th, 2020 around 4:35 PM, a custodian of the Roseburg School District reported finding several suspicious objects in the front parking lot of Roseburg High School.  The objects appeared to be some type of small, homemade device, possibly altered fireworks.  According to school district officials there were approximately 20 staff and 60 children on the campus at the time.  All of those people were safely evacuated from the campus. Roseburg Police, Roseburg Fire, and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office personnel blocked access to the school property.  The Oregon State Police Explosives Unit was contacted and is responding from Medford to the high school to evaluate the items.  None of these objects were found inside any buildings, or past the front parking lot of the high school.  We were made aware of some reports in the community that these devices resembled pipe bombs, but that information is not accurate. ...

EUGENE SPRINGFIELD FIRE CREWS STOP SE EUGENE HOUSE FIRE

  Eugene Springfield Fire Eugene Oregon, Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a reported car fire that was extending to a home on the 2400 block of Harris Alley in South East Eugene Tuesday night.  Crews were able to make a quick stop limiting damage to the exterior and small portion of the attic.  No residents or Firefighters were injured and the cause of the car fire is under investigation.

OREGON STATE POLICE IS REQUESTING PUBLIC'S ASSISTANCE WITH THREE ELK KILLED AND LEFT TO WASTE - DESCHUTES COUNTY

  Oregon State Police The Oregon State Police is seeking public assistance in identifying the person(s) who shot and killed three elk and left them to waste near Hwy 126 and Quail Tree Dr. in the Dry Canyon area east of Sisters. Investigation has determined all three elk were most likely shot on opening day of the East Central Cascade elk season (Wednesday, October 28 through Sunday, November 1, 2020).   All three elk were located in fairly close proximity.  One mature bull elk had the head and antlers removed and only the two front shoulders salvaged.   A spike bull elk and cow elk were shot and left to waste approximately 40 yards apart. Evans Creek Road, Rogue River, OR Suspect: Joshua Robert  Miller, birthdate 5/8/1985, resident of 15000 block of East Evans Creek Rd. Rogue River, OR. This address is located north of Wimer, Or Suspect Joshua Robert Miller has been lodged at Jackson County Jail on several charges related to the double homicide case reported on 110420. The victims of the shooting have been identified. The two deceased victims are: Shane Heiwa Roork, 35 years old of the Ukiah, California area. FATAL CRASH ON HWY 97 - KLAMATH COUNTY

Oregon State Police   On Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at approximately 9:59P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a vehicle crash on Hwy 97 near milepost 232. Preliminary investigation revealed a Honda motorcycle, operated by John Fairbanks (56) of unknown, was northbound when it crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a Pontiac G6 operated by Roberto Salinas (32) of Sanger, CA.   Fairbanks sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. Salinas sustained minor injuries. OSP was assisted by Chemult Fire Department and ODOT.

ROSEBURG MAN ACCUSED OF ATTEMPTED SEXUAL EXPLOITATION OF A CHILD

Williams announced today that a Roseburg man has been charged with Attempted Sexual Exploitation of a Child after he used a hidden camera to attempt to record lewd images of a minor girl.             A federal grand jury in Medford has returned a one-count indictment charging Robert Wayne Roady, 48, with Attempted Sexual Exploitation of a Child in violation of Title 18 United States Code, Section 2251 (a) and (e).             Roady was originally charged in Douglas County Circuit Court on October 22, 2020 with nine counts of Invasion of Privacy in violation of Oregon law. 20-18554 *(Update)* 110520 at 1930 hours Murder Investigation 15000 block of E. Evans Creek Road, Wimer, OR Suspect: Joshua Robert Miller, birthdate 5/8/1985 On 110420 at 1556 hours Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to property in the 15000 block of East Evans Creek Road north of Wimer, OR for a reported Assault With a Firearm. A witness advised deputies that he and two other men had gone to the property to pick up an item from the suspect. The suspect knew the men. Shortly after they arrived, the suspect shot two of the men with a firearm. The witness fled to call law enforcement. When deputies arrived the men who were shot were not located and were not where the witness saw them last. The suspect was gone along with his Polaris side-by-side ATV. Darkness prevented a complete and safe search of the 30 acre property. The scene was secured overnight. On 11/5/20, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and K9s conducted a search of the property. Deputies located the bodies of the 2 male victims in the wood line above the property. They were found about half a mile from where they were shot. After locating the bodies, the side by side was also located about 150 yards up the hill. The area was searched extensively for the suspect, but searchers did not locate him. At this time, the suspect, Joshua Miller, is still outstanding and is considered armed and dangerous. JCSO is requesting anyone with information about Miller’s location or any possible sighting to call 911. The names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The double murder is continuing under investigation by the Jackson County Major Assault and Death Investigation Unit. ____________________________________________ UPDATE 110520 AT 1100 20-18554 As of this hour the investigation is continuing into a reported Assault With a Firearm in the East Evans Creek Rd. area. Sheriff's Office DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore.   - Human remains discovered near Lake Timpanogas on Monday are believed to be that of a missing Eugene man.  On Saturday, September 7, 2019, Roscoe Casita, age 37 of Eugene, was reported missing to the Eugene Police Department. On Monday, September 9, 2019, Casita's vehicle, a 2017 blue Subaru Outback, was located by family members at Lake Timpanogas. The lake is in the north east corner of Douglas County about 93 miles northeast of Roseburg and 94 miles southeast of Eugene.   Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office GLENDALE, Ore.  - A Glendale man was arrested on rape charges on Tuesday evening.  On Monday, November 2, 2020, the Sheriff's Office took a report of a sexual assault. The assault had taken place on Monday, October 27, 2020, in the 100-block of Fourth Street in Glendale.  During the investigation, it was revealed that 20-year old Irving Gerardo Gaytan of Glendale had sexual contact with an adult female known to him; without her consent while she was sleeping.  On Tuesday, November 3, 2020, Gaytan was arrested and lodged in the Douglas County Jail on the following charges:  First Degree Rape First Degree Sexual Abuse

MYRTLE CREEK MAN ARRESTED ON WEAPONS CHARGES

Sheriff's Office MYRTLE CREEK, Ore.  - Deputies arrested a Myrtle Creek man Monday night on weapons charges after he discharged a firearm.  On Monday, November 2, 2020, at 5:00 pm, 9-1-1 dispatchers received a call from a man who stated 60-year-old Charles Roscoe Jones of Myrtle Creek had pointed a firearm at him in the 11000-block of North Myrtle Road. The caller told dispatchers Jones then shot the caller's pickup as he tried to leave the area. Deputies contacted the victim and observed apparent gunshot damage to the back of the victim's pickup, consistent with a shotgun blast. They also located a shotgun shell wad and broken pieces of the victim's taillight in the street where the shooting took place.  Deputies obtained a search warrant and served it at Jones' home. SHOOTING INCIDENT

  Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On 10/31/2020, at approximately 2245 hours, officers from the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety responded to the 1300 block of Willow Lane for a report of a large physical fight outside, described as a “brawl”. As officers were approaching, additional 911 calls were received reporting gun shots and fleeing vehicles. GPDPS Patrol, assisted by Oregon State Police and the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, arrived to find a large crowd of intoxicated adults in the roadway, on the sidewalks, and in the parking lot of the apartment complex in the 1300 block of Willow Lane.  A 22 year old male was located and found to have a single gunshot wound to his lower leg.  He was transported to Three Rivers Medical Center for his non-life-threatening injury and later released.  GPDPS Detectives responded to the scene to assist. At this time, suspect(s) have not been identified and the investigation is on-going...

  Oregon State Police On Saturday, October 31, 2020 at approximately 5:15 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle crash on Hwy 38 near mile post 34.  Preliminary investigation revealed a Honda Odyssey, operated by Jose Torres (40) of Van Nuys, CA.  was westbound when it left the roadway, traveled down an embankment, and rolled. The passenger, Alfredo Valdez-Perez (46) of unknown, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.  Torres was transported by air ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Springfield. OSP was assisted by North Douglas Fire Department and ODOT.

OFFICER SHOT BY SUSPECT AFTER FOOT PURSUIT

  Salem Police Dept. Salem, Ore. . ––  On October 29, 2020 at approximately 9:50 a.m., a Salem Police patrol officer was conducting a traffic investigation when the involved vehicle crashed at 17th and Court STS NE. The driver fled from the vehicle on foot. The officer, on foot, pursued the driver into a resident backyard on Court ST NE. Shortly after confronting the driver in the backyard, shots were fired. The officer was struck in the ankle. The suspect was also struck by gunfire and pronounced deceased at the scene. The officer was treated by medical staff and released. As per Salem Police policy, the involved officer has been placed on administrative leave. In accordance with Senate Bill 111, the Salem Police Department has requested the Oregon State Police be the lead investigative agency for the incident. Deputies Seek Whereabouts of Azalea Man Following Pursuit

  GLENDALE, Ore.  - An Azalea man eluded deputies on Tuesday afternoon and now the Sheriff's Office is asking the public for tips as to his whereabouts.  On Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at 3:55 pm, a deputy attempted to stop a blue 2002 Honda Accord when the driver, 47-year-old John Curtis Williams of Azalea, accelerated and lead deputies on a seven mile pursuit.  Curtis lost control of the vehicle and spun out on a dirt road in the 1000-block of McCullough Creek Road. After the vehicle came to rest, Curtis fled from the vehicle on foot and was able to get away.  Deputies are now asking for tips from the public as to Curtis' whereabouts. OREGON STATE POLICE REQUESTING ASSISTANCE LOCATING DRIVER INVOLVED IN CRASH - JACKSON COUNTY

  Oregon State Police On Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at approximately 5:30 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle rollover crash on Hwy 62 near milepost 37.  Responders located a badly damaged Ford Explorer with no occupants.  It is believed the operator was Matthew Lang (33) of Bend.   Lang has not contacted friends or family since the crash. Jackson County Search and Rescue is currently searching the area for Lang.    Lang is 6 feet tall 185 lbs with brown hair. SHERIFF'S OFFICE INVESTIGATING FATAL TRAIN CRASH INVOLVING PEDESTRIAN

Sheriff's Office On October 26, 2020 shortly before 1:00 p.m., the Lane County Sheriff's Office received a report of a train crash involving a pedestrian on Jasper Rd. near Mount Vernon Rd. in Springfield.  Deputies responded with Pleasant Hill Goshen Fire and Rescue and located a male near the tracks who was pronounced deceased on scene.   The Lane County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death with the Lane County Medical Examiner's Office. The identity of the deceased has not yet been determined.    Bob Straub Parkway is temporarily closed at Jasper Road as deputies investigate, and is anticipated to be reopened around approximately 4:00 p.m.

MAN ARRESTED ON NUMEROUS THEFT CHARGES RELATED TO LOCAL CAR BREAK-INS

  Roseburg Police Dept. On Monday, October 26th, 2020 just before 0830 A.M., Roseburg Police Officers went to the Howard Johnson motel in Roseburg to attempt to arrest Trask Austin Phelps.  Phelps' probation officer called and reported he received information Phelps was at the motel, and Phelps had an active warrant for his arrest.   When Officers arrived and tried contacting Phelps at the room, he tried going out the back window.  As he was emerging from the window, an officer could see Phelps was holding a handgun in each hand.  The officer challenged Phelps, and tried to Tase him but the Taser missed, and Phelps retreated back into the room.  Phelps then ran out the front door, but the officers on that side no longer saw him carrying any firearms.  A foot pursuit ensued through several yards and businesses in the area and Phelps was eventually caught hiding under a shed on Neuner Street.  Officers challenged Phelps at gunpoint, and he gave...

Suspect Arrested in White City Homicide

  Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office WHITE CITY,OR–On 10-22-20 at 1001 hours, dispatch received a report of an assault with a weapon at 8005 Gladstone Ave., White City, Oregon. Deputies found the victim deceased at the scene and learned the suspect had fled on foot.  The investigation has determined that the victim was stabbed with a knife by a male who frequented  the address. The victim was a resident at the house. The victim is identified as Amanda Gail Berthelot, 63 years old, of White City, Oregon. The suspect was originally contacted approximately 90 minutes after the stabbing in the 2600 block of Falcon St in White City. He was detained on a Parole Violation on an Original charge of Unlawful Use of a Weapon and lodged at Jackson County Jail. Impaired Driver Strikes Large Boulder, Propels it into Occupied Parked Car

Sheriff's Office On Thursday, October 22, 2020, at 11:22 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a three-vehicle crash in the 19200 block of SW TV Highway in Aloha. When they arrived, they saw that a 2003 Ford F-150 had struck a large landscaping boulder on the north side of the road. The impact of the collision propelled the boulder about 75 feet, where it collided with a parked 2004 Toyota Corolla. Two people were in the Corolla at the time. The Ford truck continued another 85 feet, where it went up and over the rear of a 2003 Chevrolet Impala before coming to rest. Fortunately, no one was injured. The investigation revealed that 18-year-old Ezequiel Garrido-Torres was driving while impaired. Mr. Garrido-Torres was cited for DUII – Controlled Substance, Recklessly Endangering Another Person and Reckless Driving. No booking photo is available at this time.
