Manuel Alfonzo De Leon Say Convicted on Multiple Counts in Child Sex Abuse Case

Washington Co. District Attorney's Office HILLSBORO, Ore.- On May 18, 2020, a Washington County jury found Manuel Alfonzo De Leon Say guilty of two counts of first-degree unlawful sexual penetration and four counts of first-degree sexual abuse. Deputy District Attorney Chris Lewman prosecuted the defendant in Judge Janelle Wipper’s courtroom. In August of 2018, a witness observed the defendant sexually abusing the young victim at a business in Hillsboro, Oregon. The witness immediately removed the child from the area and reported the incident to Hillsboro Police. Detectives began to investigate, and the child was interviewed by medical experts at CARES Northwest. The victim described inappropriate touching and conduct by the defendant at both the business and a residence. The Washington County District Attorney’s Office acknowledges the investigative work of Hillsboro Police Detective Megan Townsend on this case. Hillsboro Police Arrest Murder Suspect

Hillsboro Police Dept. This morning, Hillsboro Police Department detectives, assisted by Portland Police Bureau officers, arrested Jason Bennekin, 21, at Union Station on charges of second-degree murder and unlawful use of weapon after his indictment by a Washington County grand jury. The charges stem from the December 11, 2019 shooting death of Kevin Marshall, 21, in the parking lot of Quatama MAX station. Bennekin was lodged in the Washington County Jail. No further information released at this time.

Updated: Body Located in South Umpqua River Identified

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office   ROSEBURG, Ore.  - The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office has positively identified the body found in the South Umpqua River on Saturday, May 9th. Through the use of dental records a forensic odontologist identified the remains as those of Samuel Elijah Davison who went missing at the age of 36 in September of 2019. An autopsy and scene investigation have been conducted and foul play is not suspected at this time.  Investigators are still seeking information and anyone with information regarding Davison’s disappearance is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division at  (541) 440-4458 . Fatal Crash on Interstate 5 - Linn County

Oregon State Police  On Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at approximately 1:31 A.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle crash on Interstate 5 northbound near milepost 219. Preliminary investigation revealed a Honda Odyssey, operated by Forrest Davisson (77) of St. Helens, was northbound when it left the roadway, struck a guardrail, and overturned. Davisson sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. OSP was assisted at the scene by Linn County Sheriff's Office, ODOT and Halsey Fire Department.  

BODY LOCATED ON TILLER TRAIL HIGHWAY, DETECTIVES SEEK INFORMATION

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office MILO, Ore.  - Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a deceased body which was located in the 15000-block of Tiller Trail Highway this morning.  At 6:25 am on Monday, May 18, 2020, 9-1-1 dispatchers received a report that an individual had located a deceased body in the 15000-block of Tiller Trail Highway.  Deputies along with Milo Fire Department responded to the scene.  Detectives and the Douglas County Medical Examiner's Office were also dispatched. The incident is currently under investigation and the Major Crimes Team is being activated. The death is being investigated as suspicious.   Anyone with information is asked to contact the Investigations Division at 541-440-4458. Fatal Crash on Hwy 101 - Tillamook County

Oregon State Police  On Sunday, May 17, 2020 at approximately 2:09 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy 101 milepost 63,  just north of the Tillamook Cheese Factory. Preliminary investigation revealed that a BMW Z3, operated by Samuel Hacker (36) of Scappoose, was traveling northbound when for unknown reasons veered into the southbound lane where it struck a Ford Explorer, operated by Julie Leonnig (43) of Tillamook. Hacker sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. A passenger in the BMW, Shayna Tacadena (32) of Gresham, was transported by ground ambulance to Adventist Health Tillamook Hospital with serious injuries. Leonnig received minor injuries. Hwy 101 was closed for approximately 3.5 hours following the crash. OSP was assisted by Tillamook County Sheriff's Office, ODOT and, Tillamook County Fire and Medical.

MADGE Bust Nets Meth, Heroin, Cash

Medford Police Dept. On May 12th, 2020, Detectives from the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement team served a search warrant at a residence in the 3000 block of Griffin Creek Road. This was after a two month long investigation into drug sales occurring out the home, as well as information the residents were selling drugs throughout the valley. Detectives arrested four subjects at the residence. Jeffery Cole, 26, and Justice Austin, 21, were the targets of the search warrant. Joel Dixon, 54, was determined to be involved in drug possession and sales in the home. The fourth subject, Pedro Villagrana, 44, was arrested on warrants and his involvement remains under investigation. Detectives located over 5 pounds of meth, two ounces of heroin and over $5,000 in cash. Cole and Austin were lodged for Possession, Manufacturing, and Distribution of both Meth and Heroin. Dixon was arrested for Possession, Manufacturing and Distribution of Meth.

Fatal Traffic Crash Investigation

Sheriff's Office   WINCHESTER BAY, Ore.  - A Reedsport man was declared deceased at the scene of a single vehicle crash in Winchester Bay on Thursday afternoon.  9-1-1 dispatchers received a report of a single vehicle crash on Salmon Harbor Drive near Lighthouse Rad at 12:39 pm on May 14, 2020. Deputies and emergency responders located the vehicle over the embankment, partially in the surf. The driver, 76 year-old Donald Earl Withrow was declared deceased at the scene.  Deputies determined Withrow's vehicle, a 2011 Kia Sport, left the roadway for an unknown reason and rolled once before coming to rest.  The Douglas County Medical Examiner's Office is investigating the death. Next of kin has been notified.  The Sheriff's Office was assisted by Reedsport Police Department, Reedsport Fire Department, Winchester Bay Fire Department and the United States Coast Guard - Umpqua Station. Fatal Crash on Hwy 101 - Coos County

Oregon State Police  On Thursday, May 14, 2020 at approximately 6:18 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle crash on Hwy 101 near milepost 252. Preliminary investigation revealed that a commercial motor vehicle (CMV), operated by Donald Games (53) of Coos Bay,  was traveling southbound when it failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, and struck a tree.  After the crash the CMV caught fire and Millington Fire Department and Green Acres Fire Department responded and extinguished the flames. Games sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. OSP was assisted by Millington Fire Department, Green Acres Fire Department, Bay Cities Ambulance, and ODOT.

Fatal Crash Hwy 20 - Lincoln County

Oregon State Police  On Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at approximately 3:12 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a single vehicle crash on Hwy 20 at Elk City Road. Preliminary investigation revealed that a Freightliner Utility truck, operated by Patrick Goddard (23) of Eugene, was traveling eastbound on Hwy 20 when it left the roadway, went through a guardrail, and landed up-side-down in a nearby waterway. Goddard sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.  The passenger, Jason Landry (42) of Eugene, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis. OSP was assisted by ODOT, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Toledo Police Department, and Toledo Fire Department.

Multiple agencies pursue wanted murder suspect, ends in arrest

Multnomah Co. Sheriff's Office On Thursday, May 14, at approximately 10:23 a.m., the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office was notified by Oregon State Police that troopers were pursuing a person of interest linked to a homicide investigation in Adams County, Washington. The suspect was driving westbound on I-84 toward Multnomah County at a high rate of speed. It was reported the suspect fired multiple shots at troopers while traveling on the freeway. During the pursuit, the suspect stopped several times and exchanged gunfire with troopers. Near Rooster Rock State Park, the suspect reportedly carjacked a vehicle from a bystander. At approximately milepost 18, eight miles west of Rooster Rock State Park, officers stopped the vehicle using pursuit intervention tactics. After the vehicle came to rest in a field, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident. The suspect has been identified as Grayson Morris, 26. SMHS Physical Education Teacher Arrested for Sex Crimes

Medford Police Dept. On Saturday, April 25, 2020 the Medford Police Department received an anonymous report by the organization "Safe Oregon." The anonymous report indicated that Noah Berman, a Physical Education teacher at South Medford High School, was involved in an inappropriate sexual relationship with a juvenile female student who attends South Medford High. This tip was sent to both law enforcement and the School District. On April 27th, the school district placed Berman on administrative leave. A Medford Police Detective was assigned the investigation and determined the relationship between Berman and the underage student had been ongoing since November of 2019, which ultimately became sexual in nature. Detectives also learned that much of the communication between Berman and the student occurred through the social media app “Snapchat.” The “Tampering with a Witness” charge stems from the detectives learning the suspect told the victim not to disclose the ...

Unidentified Body Located in South Umpqua River

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office   ROSEBURG, Ore.  - An unidentified deceased male was found in the South Umpqua River near Templin Beach on Saturday, May 9, 2020. Dispatchers were notified regarding the body on Saturday, May 9, 2020, at approximately 5:00 pm. The caller reported he located the body while fishing. Deputies from the Sheriff's Office Marine Division responded along with the Douglas County Medical Examiner's Office. The remains are that of an adult male, and are pending positive identification from the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office. No further details will be released at this time.

Oregon State Police  On Friday April 10, 2020 at approximately 4:15 PM deputies from the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 1700 block of Fargo Street.  The initial report indicated that an intoxicated male was trying to take his children. When deputies arrived, the involved male was no longer on the scene. Klamath 911 announced an attempt to locate for the vehicle with description, details that the suspect was possibly intoxicated, that there was a 6-year old child in the vehicle, and that the suspect had an AK47 rifle. A short time later an Oregon State Police trooper observed the vehicle and a pursuit began near Biehn Street and Crater Lake Parkway, then traveling north on Hwy 97.  Units from the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon State Police were involved as the vehicle attempted to elude. Husband of La Pine Daycare Owner Arrested for Sex Abuse I

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office   On April 21, 2020 the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a sex crime that had taken place at a La Pine area daycare. The allegation involved a female juvenile under the age 14 attending the daycare and the husband of the daycare owner.  Detectives were notified and began an investigation into the allegations. The Department of Human Services Child Welfare Division was also notified of the investigation and assisted with a safety plan. The daycare was identified as Auntie J’s Little Feet Child Care, which is run out of a private residence in La Pine and the male suspect was identified as Roger Holloman. During the three week investigation, detectives developed probable cause to arrest Holloman for one count of Sex Abuse I. Pursuit/Stolen Vehicle Suspect Arrest

Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On May 11, 2020, Officers attempted to stop a tan Toyota pickup on NE D Street near NE Beacon Drive. The pickup, known to be driven by Justin Sager, was believed to be involved in the theft of motorcycles and other property in the northeast area of Grants Pass. The vehicle turned north on Beacon Drive and fled at a high rate of speed, running stop signs and going into oncoming lanes of travel. The primary officers terminated the pursuit in the interest of safety to the community. Other officers were able to locate the vehicle as it turned into a dead street on Lynda Lane off of NE Hillcrest Ave, and crashed into a parked car. The driver fled on foot into a vacant field. Several officers from multiple agencies established a perimeter of the area to keep the suspect from continuing to flee. Gresham Police Seek Help Locating Missing 13-year-old Girl

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.—Gresham Police is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 13-year-old girl who left the area of SW 33rd st./SW Emerald ave. in the early morning hours of May 10. Around 4:30 am, Phoenyx Cannon left her house on foot, possibly headed south towards SW Butler rd.. Phoenyx is described as a white female, 5-feet-7-inches tall and approximately 270 pounds with dark brown shoulder-length hair and was last seen wearing a red and white hooded sweatshirt, dark gray sweatpants, and flip-flops. She did not have a cell phone or money with her, does not normally use public transportation, and she does not take any life-sustaining medications, but is on the autism spectrum at a high-functioning level. Anyone who sees Phoenyx, or knows where she is, is asked to call 503-823-3333 or 911 in case of emergency.

Fatal Crash Hwy 97 - Sherman County

Oregon State Police  On Thursday, May 7, 2020 at approximately 7:10 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a motor vehicle collision on Hwy 97 near milepost 48. Preliminary Investigation revealed that a northbound Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) loaded with potatoes, operated by Amador Ramirez (25) of Hermiston, lost control, crossed into the southbound lane, and rolled onto the driver's side. The CMV collided with a southbound Chevrolet pickup operated by Ryan Spyker (45) of Terrebonne. Spyker sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. Ramirez sustained minor injuries. Hwy 97 was closed for approximately 5 hours following the crash.  OSP was assisted by Sherman County Sheriff's Office, Moro Fire & Rescue and ODOT.

Domestic Violence Suspect Located Hiding in Attic

Redmond Police Dept. On Thursday, May 7, 2020 at 7:14pm, officers from the Redmond Police Department were dispatched to a home on the 2800 block of SW Indian Circle in Redmond, Oregon for a report of a domestic disturbance.  The victim reported being assaulted, choked, and threatened to be killed with a knife. Officers responded to the scene and were met by the victim who was able to escape from the residence.  Officers attempted to contact the suspect, 36-year-old Redmond resident Daylen Anderson, without success.  Daylen refused to communicate with officers, messaging a family member that he had left the residence.  With the assistance of Deschutes County Sheriff’s Deputy Mangin and his K-9 partner Ares, officers determined that Daylen climbed into the attic.  Officers used a handheld thermal imaging device, pole-camera, and K-9 Ares to positively identify Daylen’s hiding spot.  From there, officers successfully negotiated Daylen’s surrender without...

Salem Man Drug Dealer Arrested, Charged in Federal Court

U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon   PORTLAND, Ore.—U.S. Attorney Billy J. Williams announced today that a Salem, Oregon man faces federal drug and firearm charges after large quantities of methamphetamine, eight firearms, and approximately $400,000 in cash were found in his residence and nearby storage locker. Joshua McGuire, 42, has been charged by criminal complaint with conspiring to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possessing with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. According to court documents, the Salem Police Department Street Crimes Unit (SCU) began investigating McGuire in April 2020 after they learned he was distributing large quantities of methamphetamine throughout the Salem area. On May 7, 2020, SCU investigators applied for and obtained warrants to search McGuire’s home, vehicle, and storage locker. Lane County Sheriff's Office Seeks Public's Assistance Locating Missing Man Chase Robertson

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office The Lane County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's assistance locating missing man Chase Robertson.  Family reported Chase missing on May 2, 2020 when they hadn't heard from him since April 29th.   Deputies responded and searched the areas Chase was known to frequent with no success.  On May 4, 2020, Chase's car was located by the Lane County Sheriff's Office in the area of Quartz Creek Rd. in eastern Lane County.  Lane County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue K9 and ground teams have been searching the area where his vehicle was found. Former Gymnastics Coach Arrested for Sex Abuse

Redmond Police Dept. On Wednesday, May 6, 2020, following a five-month investigation, 25-year-old Redmond resident Kellee Johnson, a former gymnastic coach at the Redmond Gymnastics Academy (RGA), was arrested on multiple sex crimes for having a relationship with one of the RGA students under the age of 18. Kellee wasn’t the primary coach for the victim, but did attend competitions the victim participated in. Kellee Johnson was lodged at the Deschutes County Jail on May 6, 2020, for the following crimes: Luring a Minor for Sexual Conduct, Online Sexual Corruption of Child I, Sex Abuse II, Sex Abuse III, Contributing to the Sexual Delinquency of a Minor, DCS Marijuana to a minor for no consideration. His bail is currently set at $47,500. The Redmond Gymnastic Academy made the initial report of the incident to the Police. LINN COUNTY SHERIFF LOOKING FOR HELP IDENTIFYING REMAINS

Linn County Sheriff's Office Linn County Sheriff Jim Yon asks for help from the public to identify human remains that were found on April 3, 2020, near Gordon Road.  This area is within the Willamette National Forest east of Sweet Home.  Detectives and the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office continue their investigation and have determined the partially skeletonized remains are that of a white female, between 30-50 years-of-age, with short, wavy brown hair.  It is estimated her remains had been there between eight weeks to one year prior to being found.  Clothing found with the unidentified female included a size extra small purple athletic jacket, teal colored camisole, size 9.5 black boots and size 5 or 6 blue jeans with a 32-inch length. Oregon National Guard Soldiers mobilize for overseas operations

Oregon Military Department PENDLETON, Ore . – Approximately 60 Oregon National Guard Soldiers assigned to Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 168th Aviation Regiment along with six of their CH-47 Chinook helicopters departed today for Fort Hood, Texas as they prepare to be mobilized for deployment to Afghanistan.  “This departure shows the strength of the National Guard.  The Citizen-Soldiers of Bravo Company, 1-168 Aviation have stepped up to meet their federal mission and done so flawlessly,” said Brig. Gen. William J. Prendergast IV, Commander, Oregon Army National Guard Land Component Command. SWAT Team Responds to Rural Property Near Silverton

Sheriff's Office On May 5th, 2020, at approximately 10:00 am, deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office went to a rural property located in the 11800 block of Silverton Road NE to serve a court order related to an ongoing investigation.  The property, just west of Silverton, has been the scene of numerous police and fire calls for service during the last year.  Prior calls for service have included suspicious activity, thefts, trespassing, assault, stolen vehicles, warrant arrests, and countless reported code violations.  The most recent event, a large fire on Thursday, April 30th, resulted in a barn, travel trailer, and multiple vehicles being destroyed.  Yesterday, when deputies attempted to make contact at the home there were multiple people inside of the residence who would not come outside, preventing the order from being served.  Due to the extensive history of law enforcement responses to the property, the Sheriff’s Office SWAT T...

DCPW: Railroad Crossing Project

Government (Douglas County, Ore.)  Douglas County Public Works Department (DCPW) in conjunction with Central Oregon and Pacific Railroad will be working on a railroad crossing project on Old Highway 99 North (Oakland-Shady Highway/South Calapooia Street) about 1.3 miles south of Sutherlin, Oregon from 7:00 am on Monday, May 11 through 7:00 pm Tuesday, May 12, 2020. The project will include the replacement of existing rail ties, the releveling the tracks to meet their standards for safety and adjacent road approach paving.  The project will require the closure of Old Highway 99N where the road intersects the railroad tracks, and motorists will be asked to detour their route during this period.  Due to the road closure at the railroad tracks, southbound motorists are asked to detour from Hastings Avenue to Taylor Street to Comstock Road in Sutherlin.  Likewise, northbound traffic is asked to detour utilizing Comstock Road in Sutherlin.  DCPW w...

Increased vandalism cases

Roseburg Police Dept. The Roseburg Police Department has recently addressed several concerns regarding recent criminal mischief to businesses in Roseburg, some of which have been targeted in the downtown Roseburg business district.  Last week there was an individual who broke a large business window in the 700 block of SE Jackson Street, and that same individual caused damage to several other buildings downtown.  He was apprehended and charged with criminal mischief  for that incident.  Around the same time frame we charged a different female for writing on several businesses with a marker.  Most of that damage was able to be cleaned, as the marker was easily wiped off of most of the surfaces drawn on.  Most recently, during the evening of May 5th, morning of May 6th, we responded to a report of criminal mischief to the Republican Headquarters in the downtown area.  Several windows were broken, and graffiti disparaging President Trump was found writt...
