Telephone Service Outage Affecting 911

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office   DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -  A CenturyLink telephone service outage is affecting approximately 1700 customers in the Sutherlin and Oakland areas. The outage may prevent residents in those areas from dialing 9-1-1 from their landline telephones. The telephone service provider is currently investigating the cause of the outage, and there is no estimated time of repair.  Residents who are affected may be able to dial 9-1-1 from a cellular device in the event of an emergency. Both Sutherlin and Oakland Fire Departments are also staffed with personnel while the issue is being resolved.  Residents wishing to check on the status of the telephone service should contact CenturyLink.

Male Arrested For Luring A Minor: Additional Victims Sought

Beaverton Police Dept. On July 16, 2019 Beaverton Police detectives arrested 61-year-old Gregory Ryder Anderson, a Lake Oswego resident, for Luring a Minor and Online Sexual Corruption of a Child in the First Degree. On July 16, law enforcement officers working in the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force, communicated with Mr. Anderson via a social media application.  Law enforcement officers, posing as a 15-year-old male, agreed to meet Mr. Anderson to engage in sexual activity.  When Mr. Anderson arrived at the agreed upon location, he was arrested by BPD detectives.  Mr. Anderson was taken to Washington County Jail and charged with Luring a Minor and Online Sexual Corruption of a Child in the First Degree. Commercial Fire and Explosion

Albany Fire Dept. Tangent Rural Fire District and Albany Fire Department responded to a first alarm commercial fire and explosion, August 15, 2019, at 7:53 a.m., at 33992 Seven Mile Lane.  The property is owned by Selmet, Inc., a titanium casting manufacturer located in Tangent Rural Fire District.    The 911 caller reported an explosion in the Foundry Building and subsequent fire.  Over 30 fire crew members responded and were able to extinguish the fire and determine there was no chemical hazard to the employees or the public.  Two Selmet employees were transported by Albany Fire to Albany General Hospital.  One patient was flown by Life Flight to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland.  The patient is listed in critical condition.   Investigators from Linn County Sheriff’s Office, Tangent Rural Fire and the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office are working with Selmet, Inc. to determine cause and origin of the explosion.

M.A.D.G.E Fentanyl Seizure in Jackson County

Medford Police Dept. On 07/28/19 at approximately 1:00 pm, MADGE detectives stopped a white 2008 Dodge Sprinter van on I-5 near milepost 16 and seized cocaine, scales and packaging.  The van was seized for a search warrant.  When the search warrant was served detectives found 60,000-80,000 fentanyl pills located in a hidden trap and packaged in such a way as to attempt to mask any odor.  The pills are similar in shape, color and markings to Oxycodone 30 pills; round, blue with a M on one side and 30 on the other side.  The street value a single fentanyl pills is approximately $50-.   Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid that is similar to morphine but can be 50 to 100 times more potent.  There is a high risk of overdose associated with fentanyl.  According to  Acetyl Fentanyl Fact Sheet  synthetic opioids are the most common drugs associated with overdose deaths in the United States. Second K9 Team Joining the Sheriff's Office

Sheriff's Office DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore.  - The Sheriff's Office announced today that it will be adding a second K-9 team to the patrol division.  A generous donation from a couple in the community and the financial support of the Friends of Umpqua Valley Police K-9 Programs has made the addition possible.  Sergeants Brad O'Dell and Jon Dorland will be traveling next month to Riverside, California to select the new dog, which will be partnered with Deputy Brandon Black. The dog will then live with Deputy Black and the two will begin bonding as a team. This fall, they will undergo a training and certification process in partnership with the Springfield Police Department and Oregon Police Canine Association.  "We are very excited about this opportunity. East Evans Fire Sparked by BHO Lab

Sheriff's Office ROGUE RIVER, Ore. – Investigators say a wildfire that burned 155 acres was started by an explosion in an illegal marijuana extraction laboratory.  One man is in jail on charges related to drug manufacturing and arson, while detectives continue their investigation.   On Friday, August 2, 2019, at 2:38 p.m., dispatch received a 911 call reporting a wildfire in the 18700-block of East Evans Creek Road.  The fire, later dubbed the East Evans Fire, quickly spread, leading to the evacuation of nearby residences and the closure of a section of East Evans Creek Road.  Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies arriving at the scene learned the fire began in a makeshift structure that housed a post extraction operation, commonly known as a "butane honey oil" (BHO) laboratory.  The process generally involves the use of flammable solvents to extract oils from marijuana plants, creating a concentrated form of the drug.  De...

Sheriff's Office ROSEBURG, Ore. -  The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is currently seeking information into the whereabouts of a missing Roseburg man and his 2 year-old daughter.  29 year-old Sean Michael Moss and his daughter, Madison Moss were reported missing on Monday, August 12 at 10:18 am. They were last seen by Moss' co-worker on the evening of Friday, August 9th. Family members were expecting Sean and Madison to attend the Douglas County Fair on August 10th, but they did not arrive.  Sean drives a dark green Chevy Trailblazer with front end damage on the right side of the bumper with Oregon license plate 549DBU. Toddler's Death Under Investigation

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office   EAGLE POINT, Ore. – Detectives are investigating the death of an Eagle Point toddler.  The girl was found unresponsive in her home on Monday afternoon. On August 5, 2019, at 3:24 p.m., an Eagle Point Police Department officer was dispatched to a call of CPR in progress at 233 S. Shasta Avenue #63, Eagle Point.  The 911 caller reported a child in the home was not breathing. Alivia Rose Allen, 2, was unresponsive when police and Fire District 3 personnel arrived on scene.  She was transported by Mercy Flights ambulance to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center.  Alivia died at the hospital later that evening.  Eagle Point PD requested assistance with the investigation from Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) detectives.  If anyone has information about the incident, they can call the JCSO tip line at (541) 774-8333. Sheriff's Office Update-08/07/2019 9:30 AM Roseburg,Ore. -  The Douglas County Medical Examiner has released the name of the pedestrian who died on Sunday, August 4th, after being stuck by a vehicle.  37 year-old Shane David Dishner of Coquille was walking in the highway on 138E around 9:39 pm when the incident took place.  Next of kin has been notified.

Sheriff's Office   UPDATE 08/06/2019 10:45 PM RIDDLE, Ore.  - Detectives have concluded their preliminary investigation into the death of a man reported on Tuesday August 6, 2019, in the 3000-block of Glenbrook Loop Road in Riddle. Detectives have determined the deceased male, 43 year-old Anthony Martin Malatino of Glendale, died as the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No additional information is expected to be released. Next of kin has been notified.

Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety   Officers and detectives from the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety are currently on scene of an officer involved shooting at the Oregon State Police-Grants Pass Office.  The suspect is deceased at the scene and there are minor injuries to the Troopers involved.  The scene is secure and there is no threat to the public.  Further details will follow as they are available.

RIDDLE DEATH INVESTIGATION

Sheriff's Office RIDDLE, Ore.  - The Sheriff's Office is conducting a death investigation in the 3000-block of Glenbrook Loop Road.  At 7:41 am, dispatchers received a report of a possible medical aid. Deputies responded along with officers from Myrtle Creek Police Department at Oregon State Police and found a male subject deceased outside of the home. Detectives and the Douglas County Medical Examiner's Office are currently on scene conducting an investigation into the nature of the death. "It is too early in the investigation to determine if the death is the result of violence or suicide," said Sgt. Brad O'Dell. Counterfeit Fraud Investigations

Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety Over the last few weeks there has been a rash of counterfeit bills being passed at several Grants Pass businesses. Grants Pass Detectives obtained information that the source of the counterfeit manufacturing was at 725 SW Burgess Street, Grants Pass Oregon. Grants Pass Detectives made contact at 725 SW Burgess Street and after a subsequent investigation, Detectives were able to obtain evidence that counterfeit bills were being manufacturing in the garage of the residence.  The following individuals were taken into custody on various charges. Deputies Investigate Fatal Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Crash

Sheriff's Office ROSEBURG, Ore.  - At 9:39 pm, 9-1-1 dispatchers received a report of a vehicle which had struck a pedestrian on Highway 138E near Hatfield Drive.  Immediately prior to the crash, dispatchers had been receiving reports of a male pedestrian walking in the highway. Deputies arrived and learned a 2008 Honda Civic, operated by 19 year-old Curtis James Weaver of Roseburg, was traveling east on Highway 138 when he struck a the male pedestrian who was in Weaver's lane of travel and wearing dark clothing. The pedestrian, whose name is being withheld pending next of kin notification, died at the scene.   Weaver is cooperating with deputies and assisting them in the investigation.  Crash Reconstructionists are continuing their investigation and are seeking witnesses prior to the collision. Residential Structure Fire - 477 NE Winchester Street - 8-4-19

Roseburg Fire Dept. At 4:18 p.m. on August 4, 2019, Roseburg Fire Department personnel responded to a reported structure fire at 477 NE Winchester Street.  Upon arrival at the two-story duplex, firefighters found heavy smoke and fire from the backside of the structure.  All residents had existed the structure prior to firefighters arriving. When firefighters arrived, they made entry through the front door and additional lines were deployed to the back of the home.  The fire was quickly extinguished and overhaul was completed.  Firefighters were able to protect the surrounding homes from damage.  One family of seven was displaced and being assisted by the American Red Cross. Nine firefighters assisted with firefighting operations.  Other agencies assisting with the fire included Avista, Roseburg Police Department, and Pacific Power.  The cause of the fire was determined to be discarded smoking material outside of the structure.  Damage to the...

Linn County Deputies Investigate Death of Man Crushed by Tree

Linn County Sheriff's Office Linn County Sheriff Jim Yon reports yesterday, August 2, his deputies investigated the death of a man who was crushed by a tree while operating an excavator.  This occurred at Olsen Honey Farms on Pirtle Drive, outside of Albany.  The Linn County 911 Center received a 911 call from a man screaming for help at 3:31 p.m.  The man would not answer the dispatcher’s questions and eventually was unresponsive on the phone.  Dispatchers used the 911 system to get a location for the caller.  Deputies started arriving in the area approximately 10 minutes later and began looking for the source of the call.   There was nothing obviously visible from the roadway but deputies were eventually able to find the man in a John Deere excavator.  The man had been excavating a treed area on the farm when one of the large trees fell, crushing the cab of the excavator with the man inside. Days Creek Man Arrested on Sex Crimes Involving a Minor

Bend Man Arrested After Several Hit & Run Crashes and a Pursuit

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office On July 31, 2019 at approximately 1:12AM, Deschutes County 911 received calls about a Chevrolet truck that crashed into parked cars in the area of the Tumalo Tavern. The 911 callers reported the driver of the truck fled the parking lot after the crashes and provided updated locations to dispatchers as it drove through Tumalo. About 30 minutes earlier, the Bend Police Department was also investigating another hit and run crash at Jake's Diner in the City of Bend. The victim in that crash provided a description of the truck and driver that matched this same truck in Tumalo. During the investigation, it was determined this was indeed the same truck and driver. A DCSO Deputy Sheriff attempted to stop the Chevrolet and a pursuit ensued through Tumalo and onto southbound Highway 97 from Tumalo Rd. Gresham Police Seeking Welfare Check On 8-Month-Old Girl

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore. – Police are seeking a welfare check on an 8-month-old girl who was last seen in Gresham on the evening of July 26th, 2019 with her father, 27-year-old B.J. Crane Jr. of Portland.   Crane was supposed to return his 8-month-old daughter, Kahlani, to her biological mother, 23-year-old Alondra Chavez, on July 27th. Crane has not been in communication with his family or law enforcement and his whereabouts are unknown currently. Gresham Detectives are continuing to search for Crane and are seeking the public’s assistance. Two Arrested at Illegal Marijuana Grow

Sheriff's Office GOLD HILL, Ore. – Two men are in custody following a raid on an illegal marijuana grow near Gold Hill.  Detectives with the Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team (IMET) seized more than 1,000 marijuana plants at two rural properties.  On the morning of Tuesday, July 30, 2019, IMET detectives served a search warrant at a property in the 900-block of Upper River Road.  A second search warrant was served at a neighboring property in the 600-block of Upper River Road.  Detectives located indoor and outdoor grow operations.  Detectives characterize the collective grow as a “black market” operation; the suspects did not have any permits to grow or process marijuana for recreational, commercial, or medical purposes.  In addition to the plants, detectives found a laboratory that produced butane honey oil (BHO), a concentrated form of cannabis.  Detectives arrested two suspects who were present at the time the warrants were...

Human Remains Located Six Miles West of Sunriver on National Forest Land; Investigation Underway

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office On July 28, 2019, at approximately 11:55am, deputies with the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Deschutes National Forest land approximately 6 miles west of Sunriver after a camper in the area reporting possibly finding a decomposed body.  Arriving deputies did locate and confirm human remains alongside a forest road.  The Oregon State Police Crime Lab was called out to the scene to assist with the investigation and recovery of evidence.  An autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow, July 30th, 2019.  Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office detectives are working with the State Medical Examiner’s Office to determine identity and cause/manner of death.  Detectives do believe foul play occurred in this case.  The investigation is active and ongoing and additional information will be released as it becomes available. Sheriff's Office DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore.  - Through a partnership with Douglas County Sheriff's Office Emergency Management, Milepost 97 Fire Managers and Josephine County Emergency Management, residents affected by the Milepost 97 Fire can now visit an interactive map to see exactly what evacuation zone they are in.  The website  https://tinyurl.com/y696vqhq , is now operational. Douglas County Emergency Management and Milepost 97 Fire managers provided information to Josephine County about the evacuation zones and the fire. Using specialized software, Josephine County was able to produce the map for our community to use. RADE arrest(s) / Search Warrant

Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On July 17th, 2019, RADE Detectives executed a search warrant regarding a drug investigation at 1297 Flower Lane in Grants Pass. The subject of the investigation/search warrant was Robert Goodlette. Due to information Goodlette possessed firearms and Goodlette’s history of violent crimes including assaulting a peace officer, a small GPDPS SWAT element was included with the execution of the search warrant. Goodlette was located at the residence and taken into custody. Also located was Brandon Fernandez and Britney Williams. SINGLE VEHICLE

Roseburg Police Dept. On July 28, 2019 at approximately 2030 hours, the Roseburg Police Department responded to a single vehicle collision on Garden Valley at the intersection of NE Cedar.  A motorcycle operated by Jeffrey Lynn Shipman (59 years of age), left the roadway and collided with a building at this location.  Shipman sustained life threatening injuries during the collision and was transported to Mercy Medical Center and then life-flighted to Sacred Heart for treatment.  Shipman is currently in critical condition. Officers spoke with witnesses who heard the motorcycle accelerating, and then saw the rider lose control as he attempted to negotiate the turn from westbound Garden Valley to southbound Cedar Street and ultimately into the wall of 161 NE Garden Valley. The investigation is ongoing, however, alcohol is believed to be a factor. 

Officers Interrupt Robbery

Medford Police Dept. On July 27th, 2019, at 9:10 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Golden Wok, 718 S. Riverside Avenue for an armed robbery in progress. It was reported that the suspect was purporting to be armed with a firearm. Officers arrived in less than one minute and found the robbery was still in progress. Three officers entered the business and confronted the suspect. The suspect did not obey commands and challenged the officers. The officers tased the suspect which had the desired effect. He was taken into custody and determined he did not have a weapon during the robbery.  He was lodged in jail for Robbery 2nd Degree, $100,000 bail. Suspect: Shriven, Richard Eric 57 years old

Deputies Investigating Shooting

Marion Co. Sheriff's Office   On July 28th at just before 9:30 pm, deputies were dispatched to the report of gunshots being heard behind Safeway, at 3380 Lancaster Drive NE.  While deputies were checking the area, a local hospital reported a 16-year-old victim had arrived with multiple gunshot wounds.  Deputies responded to the hospital and interviewed the victim regarding the shooting and are continuing to investigate what occurred.  The victim was admitted to the hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. Due to this being an ongoing investigation, no additional information will be released at this time.  The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Salem Police Department during the initial response to the shooting. UPDATE ON MISSING 2 YEAR OLD

Medford Police The Medford Police Department has learned from Montana authorities that a deceased two year old, believed to be Aiden Salcido, has been located in a remote area of Montana. Positive identification has not been made, however the decedent was located in the same area that Hannah Janiak and Daniel Salcido were seen by several witnesses days earlier. Witnesses called in tips after seeing the story break on the news and were instrumental in helping  to locate a remote camp believed to have been occupied by Janiak and Salcido. The cause and manner of death will not be disclosed until an autopsy can be conducted next week in Montana. ELEVATED EVACUATION NOTICES ISSUED FOR MILEPOST 97 FIRE

Sheriff's Office UPDATE 07/27/2019 13:50 In conjunction with Milepost 97 Fire managers, the Sheriff's Office is issuing Level 2 "GET SET" evacuation notices for all residences on the west side of the freeway between Interstate mileposts 88-83. This includes:  Barton Road Azalea-Glen Road Old Booth Lane Harrel Lane Hobbs Lane Fortune Branch Road on the Azalea-Glen side Forrest Road Realty Road Quines Creek Road Mobley Drive Additionally, all residences off of Upper Cow Creek Road starting at Interstate 5 milepost 88, east to the base of Galesville Dam are being elevated to a Level 2.  Level 2 or "Get Set" means: • This level indicates significant danger to your area and are encouraged to leave. Suspicious Vehicle Yields Drugs and Cash

Beaverton Police Dept. On July 26, 2019 Beaverton Police officers arrested 28-year-old Ammahad Bradley for illegal drug possession and distribution. At 4:01 a.m. on July 26th, a BPD officer noticed a suspicious vehicle in the area of SW Walker Rd. and SW Canyon Rd. The BPD officer subsequently stopped the suspicious vehicle. During the traffic stop, officers discovered methamphetamine (203 grams), heroin (17 grams), 2 lbs. of marijuana and cash. Mr. Bradley was charged with Distribution and Possession of Methamphetamine, Distribution and Possession of Heroin, Unlawful Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drugs (Schedule IV). Mr. Bradley was lodged at the Washington County Jail. BPD encourages anyone that sees illegal or suspicious activity to notify law enforcement.
