Deputies Investigating Fatal Crash in Troutdale

Multnomah Co. Sheriff's Office  - 08/25/18  Yesterday morning, August 24, at approximately 4:00 a.m., the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, Gresham Fire Department, and AMR responded to the report of a crash involving a single vehicle on Historic Columbia River Highway in Troutdale. Upon arrival of emergency responders, it was determined that the passenger of the vehicle was deceased.  The driver remained on scene, and suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash. The East County Vehicular Crimes Team, consisting of MCSO Deputies, Gresham Police Officers, and members of the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, responded to conduct the crash investigation. The Historic Columbia River Highway was closed from the Troutdale Bridge to Woodard Road during the investigation, and reopened a few hours later. A Eugene Church Music Ministry Leader Arrested on Child Pornography Charge

FBI - Oregon  - 08/25/18  FBI Agents and Eugene Police Officers arrested Edward Samuel Thompson, age 38, at his Eugene home on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, following the service of a federal search warrant. Agents filed a criminal complaint against Thompson, charging him with accessing, receiving, possessing and distributing child pornography. The arrest was without incident. At his initial appearance on Tuesday, August 21st, a federal magistrate ordered Thompson held. He is currently lodged at the Springfield Municipal Jail. Thompson is a long-time member and a music ministry leader at Christ Fellowship Church in Eugene and former member of Eugene Faith Center where he still plays on a volleyball team at the church. The FBI offers this advice to concerned community members: Parents who have a child who has come in contact with Thompson should let that child know that Thompson has been arrested for inappropriate behavior. Shooting leaves two dead and another injured

Marion Co. Sheriff's Office  - 08/25/18 Deputies have identified 46-year old Lucias Rashaud Harris as a suspect in this case. The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information to please call our tip line at 503-540-8079. The vehicle associated with HARRIS is a red 1997 Ford Expedition with brown trim, Oregon License Plate XEL 793. HARRIS is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. HARRIS was last known to be in the Houston, Texas area. No other information is available for release at this time. Deputies are currently seeking any information regarding the pictured vehicle. Former Medford Youth Pastor Sentenced to More Than 15 Years in Federal Prison for Secretly Videotaping Minors

U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon  - 08/24/18  Defendant used church events and trips as a guise to secretly record dozens of minor victims MEDFORD, Ore. – Donald Courtney Biggs, 40, of Medford, Oregon, was sentenced today to 188 months in federal prison for surreptitiously recording minor church members in various stages of undress while employed as a youth pastor at Mountain Christian Fellowship in Medford. According to court documents, the Medford Police Department (MPD) began investigating Biggs in December 2014 for allegedly sending inappropriate text messages to a minor female who he worked with at the church. After authorities discovered Biggs had exchanged similar text messages with additional minor females and confessed to church administrators that he videotaped an adult changing at his house, they obtained a warrant to search Biggs’ home. Fatal Canoe Accident At Dillon Falls

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office  - 08/24/18  On 08/23/18, at approximately 3:15pm, 9-1-1 Dispatch received a call from a subject fly fishing near Dillon Falls day use area, who had observed two subjects in a canoe get swept downstream towards the falls.  The two subjects were described as an elderly male and adult female, who were both wearing life jackets.  They were later confirmed to be father and daughter.  At some point, their canoe tipped over and they were unable to swim to shore before being swept over Dillon Falls. 15 Deschutes County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Volunteers, four DCSO Deputies, Bend Fire Department personnel and US Forest Service law enforcement officers responded to the area of Dillon Falls and Aspen Camp.  Rescue personnel began arriving on scene at approximately 3:29pm. Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash on Highway 26 at Milepost 43 - Washington County

Oregon State Police  - 08/24/18  On Thursday August 23, 2018 at about 10:10 pm  State Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a  two vehicle head on crash on Highway 26 near milepost 43. Preliminary investigation indicates that a grey 2014 Kia Cadenza was traveling eastbound on Highway 26 when for an unknown reason it crossed the centerline and collided head-on into a red 2010 Lexus HS 250, which was traveling westbound.   The driver and only occupant in the Kia sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. The Lexus contained four occupants at the time of the collision. The driver and left  rear passenger sustained fatal injuries. The front passenger and the right rear passenger were transported by air ambulance to a Portland area hospital. Deceased Female Found Outside Dayton Believed to Be Missing Person Meighan Cordie

Yamhill Co. Sheriff's Office  - 08/23/18  Today, at about 10:00 a.m., joggers reported finding the body of a female down an embankment just north of the City of Dayton.  The location was determined to be at the onramp that leads from Wallace Road to Hwy. 18 and Foster Road. Based on the physical descriptors and clothing, the body appears to be that of Meighan Cordie, who had gone missing and was last seen on the evening of August 18th, approximately 8 miles south of Dayton on Grand Island.  Yamhill County Search and Rescue and a large contingency of volunteers searched for Cordie for several days after her disappearance.  Meighan’s family has been notified of the discovery.  They are asking for privacy during this difficult time. Arson Investigation in La Pine

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office  - 08/22/18  On August 21, 2018, at approximately 11:02pm, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a house fire in the  16000 block of Cassidy Dr.  in La Pine. It was reported there was an explosion and flames coming from the living room windows. Deputies arrived on scene at approximately 2305 hours. After notifying neighbors about possible evacuations they began investigating the cause of the fire.  The homeowner,  Leonard E. Gothberg  , later arrived on scene. During the investigation, deputies obtained statements and evidence that led them to believe the cause of the fire was arson. Gothberg was arrested and lodged in the Deschutes County Jail on the charge of Arson I. This case is still under investigation. The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Oregon State Police and La Pine Fire.

New York Man Dies From Fall At Bridal Veil Falls

Multnomah Co. Sheriff's Office  - 08/22/18  On August 21, 2018 at approximately 3:50 p.m., the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, Corbett Fire Department, and American Medical Response responded to the report of a hiker who fell approximately 50 feet off of the trail at Bridal Veil Falls. When MCSO and Corbett Fire arrived on scene, good Samaritans were performing CPR on the hiker. Corbett Fire and the deputy took over CPR, and continued administering aid until AMR arrived. Despite lifesaving efforts, the hiker died from his injuries. The deceased hiker has been identified as John Ferdinand Winther, age 64, from Mastic Beach, New York. Preliminary investigation indicates Mr. Winther was hiking down the trail with his family, when he slipped and fell off the lower end of the Bridal Veil Falls trail. Deceased person at Agate Beach Wayside

Newport Police Dept.  - 08/22/18  UPDATE Newport Police have determined that Nikolaus Hinton died of homicidal violence. On Friday, August 17, 2018, Newport Police were called to a reported suspicious death at the Agate Beach wayside in Newport.  Responding officers located the body of 29 year old Nikolaus Hinton of Newport. An autopsy was conducted by the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s office, and it was determined that Hinton died of homicidal violence. The Lincoln County Major Crime was activated on Friday and has been following up on leads regarding the manner and reason Hinton was murdered.  Investigators believe that Hinton was murdered at a different location and his body had been left at the Agate Beach wayside. Washington Co. Sheriff's Office  - 08/22/18  Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Marcos Jaimes-Radilla, age 25. Mr. Jaimes-Radilla has multiple warrants for his arrest out of Washington County and is a person of interest in nearly a dozen felony cases throughout Washington County. Mr. Jaimes-Radilla is a Hispanic male, 5’11” tall, 210 lbs, with brown eyes and a shaved head. Of note, Mr. Jaimes-Radilla has tattoos on both of his earlobes.  His current whereabouts are unknown and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating Mr. Jaimes-Radilla. Fast-Moving Brush Fire Contained on Cooper Mountain

Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue  - 08/21/18  Video of Horse Tale Drive fire  Earlier this afternoon, multiple calls to 911 reported heavy, dark smoke coming from a location off Horse Tale Drive, between 175th Avenue and Tile Flat Road in the South Cooper Mountain area.  Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue firefighters from the Cooper Mountain fire station arrived within minutes of being dispatched to find multiple acres of a cut hay field on fire with flames spreading quickly due to shifting winds and significantly dry vegetation fueling the fire. Based on descriptions provided by 911 callers and the size-up from the first-incoming crew, the call was immediately upgraded to a first alarm to bring in additional firefighting resources.  Firefighters battled the fire with brush rigs, surrounding the perimeter to help expedite containing the fire and preventing it from spreading to nearby structures. Sheriff's Office  - 08/21/18 On Tuesday, 8/21/18, at approximately 1145 hours, deputies with the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a minor injury motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Ward Road and Bear Creek Road east of Bend.  Deputies determined a green Dodge Ram full size pickup being operated by a 15 year old juvenile was traveling northbound on Ward Road and failed to stop for a Gray Toyota Prius, being operated by Patricia Naumann (age 63) of Bend, who was also traveling northbound attempting to make a left turn onto westbound Bear Creek Road.   The juvenile driver attempted to miss the Prius by passing on the left, but did not have sufficient room and impacted the back of the Prius causing the juvenile's pickup to go off the east side of the roadway and impact a power pole just north of this intersection.  The crash caused the pole to be damaged severely enough that Pacific Power and Century Link required the p...

Bend Police conducting a Death Investigation at a SW Bend residence

Bend Police Dept.  - 08/21/18 On August 20 at 5:46 pm Bend Police and Bend Fire and Rescue responded to 20064 Mount Hope Drive for the report of a female found unconscious inside the residence. A family member located Tashina Jordan unresponsive inside the house and alerted Deschutes County 911. The family member and first responders provided life saving measures on Tashina Jordan in the house. She was transported to St. Charles Bend, where she is currently suffering from a life-threatening condition. First responders located a seven year old male child inside the residence with a fatal gunshot wound. The child was identified as Tashina’s son. Evidence present, to include notes left at the scene, led the investigators to believe that Tashina is a suspect in the shooting of her child. Motorcyclist dies in crash with deer (Joesphine County)

Oregon State Police  - 08/21/18 On August 21, 2018 at approximately 2:18 am, Oregon State Police Troopers from the Grants Pass Area Command and emergency personnel were dispatched to a crash involving a motorcycle on Hwy 260, near MP 10.5.  Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2001 Suzuki Motorcycle, operated by Donald P. Hoak (36) of Grants Pass,  was traveling north on Hwy 260.  The motorcycle struck a deer, which was in the northbound lane, causing Hoak to lose control of the motorcycle.  Hoak was pronounced deceased at the scene. Roseburg Shooting Suspect in Custody

Roseburg Police Dept.  - 08/20/18  On August 20, 2018 at 6:35 PM, Roseburg Police were dispatched to a report of a 34 year old female gunshot victim at a single family residence on SE Downey Avenue in Roseburg.  When officers arrived, they located the injured female and she was transported to Mercy Medical Center for treatment.  The suspect, 32 year old Glide, Oregon resident Joshua James Kramer, was identified but had left the scene prior to officer’s arrival.  During a subsequent search for Kramer, he was located while driving in Roseburg.  Kramer and the victim are believed to be known to each other.  Kramer was arrested and charged with Assault in the First Degree.  There is no known ongoing threat to the public at this time.  The Douglas County Major Crimes Team has been activated for this case.  Winston Police Department also assisted in the investigation.  The case is still in the early stages of investigation and is o...

Airplane Crashes At Willamette Country Music Festival Site

Linn County Sheriff's Office  - 08/20/18 Linn County Undersheriff Paul Timm reports on August 20, 2018, deputies responded to a report of an airplane crash near Brownsville where the Willamette Country Music Festival was held this last weekend. Linn County 911 Dispatch received calls at 4:40 pm reporting a plane had crashed in front of the stage at the festival site.  Brownsville Fire Department, Oregon Department of Forestry, and Lebanon Medical personnel responded and found a single passenger experimental airplane had crashed into the temporary fencing where the VIP beer garden had been. The plane, a 1992 fixed wing single engine experimental aircraft, flown by John Loomis, 69 years old from Eugene, came to rest upright against the festival fencing.  Mr. Loomis advised he was taking photographs of the area and the festival site.  Mr. Loomis was transported by ambulance to Riverbend Hospital in Springfield with minor lacerations and complaint of back p...

Search Taking Place in Grand Island Area for Missing Clackamas County Woman

Sheriff's Office  - 08/20/18 The Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for assistance in locating Meighan Cordie, a 27 year old female who was last seen around 10:30 p.m. on August 18th.  Meighan had been attending a wedding in the community of Grand Island.  She left the vehicle she was riding in after an argument and walked away on foot.  Her phone and shoes were left in the vehicle.   Meighan’s family contacted the Sheriffs’ Office the following day because they had not heard from her.  She was last seen wearing a blue floral pant suit which she is wearing in the associated photo.  She is 5’5” and approximately 160 lbs. Portland Police Bureau  - 08/20/18  On Monday, August 20, 2018, at 12:14 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to the report that a person had arrived at a Vancouver, Washington, hospital by private vehicle in connection with an incident that had occurred in Portland. The officers learned the injured adult male was in the area of Northeast 142nd Avenue and Northeast Airport Way on Sunday, August 19, 2018, at approximately 9:30 p.m., when he was struck by a vehicle. Based on information learned during the investigation, officers believed the driver of the vehicle who struck the injured man was engaged in street racing. The injured man was reportedly standing in a parking lot, watching the driver of a black Infiniti G35 vehicle perform dangerous driving maneuvers when the collision occurred. Linn County Sheriff Asks for Public's Help Identifying Assault Suspect at Willamette Country Music Festival

Linn County Sheriff's Office  - 08/20/18  Linn County Sheriff Jim Yon reports his deputies responded to an assault that occurred Sunday night at the Willamette Country Music Festival in Brownsville. Sunday at 10:11 p.m., it was reported the victim was assaulted and needed medical attention.  Deputies and Medics, which were both on site, responded. Deputies learned that a black Ford pick-up with three males was driving through the camping area, near Section O, waving a large Confederate flag.  Before the Kid Rock concert, the victim who was walking in the area yelled something to the males about their flag because he did not like it.  One male jumped out of the pick-up and he and the victim exchanged further name-calling.  The suspect hit the victim several times and then drove off in the pick-up.  The victim was found wandering in the area by friends who reported it to dispatch.  Deputies searched the festival property for the suspect but...

Newport Police Dept.  - 08/20/18   On August 19, 2018, at 8:00pm, the Newport Police Department responded to a condominium complex on NW Alpine Street on a reported armed home invasion robbery. The complainant reported a suspect had forced his way into a residence with a handgun and told the occupants of the house to leave.   Officers arrived and observed the suspect was still in the residence. Officers surrounded the residence, and the suspect fled out a back door to a nearby vehicle. Officers confronted the suspect as he began to drive from the area.  The suspect was detained and taken into custody without incident.  The suspect was identified as Scott Patrick Lemmon, 27, of Newport. Sheriff's Office arrests Molalla man for shooting dog

Sheriff's Office  - 08/20/18  Please reference CCSO Case # 18-22976 On Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported animal complaint on the 15700 block of S. Highway 211 in Molalla.  The reporting party told dispatchers that her dog Rudy was missing -- and that her neighbor,  Preston L. Gorbett , claimed to have shot the animal, a Golden Retreiver. Deputies arrived at the scene and interviewed the suspect and witnesses. They determined that Preston L. Gorbett had shot Rudy in the face with a 44 Magnum handgun and that probable cause existed to arrest Gorbett on charges of Aggravated Animal Abuse in the First Degree. Preston Gorbett was taken into custody and transported to Clackamas County Jail. His booking photo is attached. Rudy was transported to a local animal hospital, where he is expected to survive. Beaverton Police Dept.  - 08/20/18  On August 19, 2018 at 5:15 a.m. Beaverton Police officers responded to the report of criminal mischief in the 15000 block of SW Millikan Way.  Officers located 44 vehicles and several buildings that had been damaged by graffiti.  A witness found several juveniles spray painting cars and chased them.  The juveniles were last seen near TV Hwy/SW 153rd.  If anyone has information about this incident or the suspects please call 503-629-0111 and speak to a Beaverton officer.

Suspect Arrested, Stolen Vehicle Recovered, Gun Seized Saturday Afternoon in Portland's Kenton Neighborhood

Portland Police Bureau  - 08/19/18  On Saturday, August 18, 2018, at 4:59 p.m., North Precinct officers attempted to stop the driver of a white 1994 Acura Integra near the intersection of North Winchell Street and North Fenwick Avenue after observing the driver commit multiple traffic violations. After the officers turned on the emergency lights and siren to their marked patrol vehicle, the driver of the vehicle sped away. Based on the officers' observations at the time the driver fled, the officers decided not to pursue the suspect. Additional officers were requested to assist in a search for the vehicle and suspect in the surrounding blocks. As officers searched the neighborhood they found the Acura stopped straddling a sidewalk in the 1700 block of North Farragut Avenue. Officers also observed the suspect running from the Acura. Salem Police arrest driver in fatal crash

Salem Police Dept.  - 08/19/18 On Sunday, August 19, 2018 at approximately 12:20 a.m.. Eduardo de la Lima Vargas age 39 of Hubbard, was driving a pickup truck pulling an occupied horse trailer westbound on Highway 22/ Mission Street SE when he ran a red light and struck a motorcycle, killing both of it's riders. The motorcycle had been attempting to turn eastbound onto Highway 22/Mission Street SE from the I-5 southbound off-ramp when it was struck. The collision threw both riders from the motorcycle and lodged it under the truck, causing both vehicles to catch fire.  The riders were transported to Salem Health, but were pronounced deceased shortly after their arrival. Their identities are not being released pending next of kin notification. The vehicle fire was extinguished and the horse was safely removed from the trailer. Two Arrested After Crash

Beaverton Police Dept.  - 08/19/18    On August 18, 2018 at 9:05 p.m. Beaverton Police officers attempted to stop a 2018 Mercedes near SW Canyon/SW 110th.  A witness reported the occupants of the vehicle had stolen hundreds of dollars’ worth of merchandise from Kohl’s. A short vehicle pursuit ensued and the driver of the suspect vehicle crashed into a concrete divider near Hwy 26/Sylvan.  Two of the occupants fled the vehicle as officers took one occupant into custody.  A K9 track was able to locate one of the occupants who fled.  The third occupant was not located. 40-Year-old Jessica Marie Jones, from Vancouver, WA, was charged with Attempting to Elude Felony, Reckless Driving, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree and 3 counts of Identity Theft.  22-Year-old Katelyn Noell Johnson, from Vancouver, WA, was charged with Theft in the Second Degree, Attempting to Elude Misdemeanor and PCS Methamphetamine.  Officers located the stolen it...

Woman Arrested on Multiple Charges After Vehicle Pursuit

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office  - 08/19/18  August 19, 2018 – A woman was arrested on multiple charges after a vehicle pursuit that ended with a car on its top outside a Hillsboro business complex. No one was injured. On Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 10:40 p.m., a Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputy assigned to the Traffic Safety Unit attempted to stop a 1995 Honda Civic that was driving recklessly and without headlights in the area of NW 185th Avenue and Walker Road in Hillsboro. The driver did not stop and instead drove recklessly in an attempt to elude deputies. The pursuit lasted approximately three minutes before the Honda struck a curb, a tree and lost control outside a business complex in the 3600 block of NW John Olsen Place in Hillsboro. The car ultimately landed on its top. Fortunately, no one was injured. The driver was identified as Cathie F. Ropati, 22, of Hillsboro. Fire Operations Threatened by Drone

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office  - 08/18/18  08/16/2018 Trail, Ore. – The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is actively seeking information relating to an incident which took place at a location known as Burnt Peak which falls within the Miles Fire.  An unknown suspect flew a drone over a helicopter which was dumping water on the fire.  This incident posed a significant safety risk to the helicopter and ground crews, and effectively caused a stoppage to air operations in the area.  There is a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) over all wild fires, including the Miles Fire, due to the complex and hazardous work being done there.  Potential crimes include Reckless Endangering, Interfering with a Firefighter, as well as possible penalties from the FAA.  Any information about this incident can be reported to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, attention Deputy Lance. 541-774-6800

Deputies arrived and contacted an adult female who had been sleeping in her vehicle along the roadway. The female told deputies she awoke to find an unknown male adult sexually molesting her. The male left after the forcible incident.  The female was transported to an undisclosed hospital and later released. Detectives responded and began an investigation, which is still ongoing. The male suspect has not yet been identified or located. Detectives are asking for anyone who was on Sparrow Park Road on Thursday to contact them at (541) 440-4471. Motorcyclist dies in crash with semi-truck on Hwy 205 (Harney County)

Oregon State Police  - 08/18/18 On Tuesday August 14, 2018 at approximately 3:25 pm, a semi-truck with two trailers loaded with hay, operated by Randolph Pointere (67) of Hines, OR. was traveling north on Highway 205 near milepost 2. Pointere was turning left onto Hotchkiss Ln. when a motorcycle, operated by David McNeill (74) of Bellingham, WA. attempted to pass the semi-truck. The motorcycle slid under the first semi-trailer before coming to a stop.. The semi-truck and trailers were able to stop without running over McNeill. McNeill was transported to Harney District Hospital and then transported by air to Saint Alphonsus Hospital in Boise, Idaho.  On August 15, 2018 at approximately 9:30 PM McNeill died from his injuries sustained in the crash. Pointere was not injured and the semi-truck was driven from the scene. OSP was assisted by EMS, Burns Fire, Burns PD, Hines PD, ODOT and the Harney County Sheriffs office.
