K9 Grim Locates Wanted Sutherlin Man

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office  - 06/28/18  OAKLAND, Ore.  – A man with outstanding felony arrest warrants is behind bars thanks to an alert citizen and K9 Grim. On Wednesday, June 27, 2018, a Sutherlin Police Officer attempted to make a traffic stop, but the driver failed to yield and eventually ran from the vehicle in the area of Driver Valley Road and Old Pioneer Road. Several officers from Sutherlin Police Department and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office searched the area without success. At 7:18 pm, a citizen called into the 9-1-1 center reporting a suspicious male who had come to his front door asking for water and a phone in the 1100-block of Driver Valley Road. The citizen believed the male may have been the suspect from the earlier incident. Sutherlin Police and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area. Linn County Resident arrested for multiple wildlife offenses and posession of weapons

Oregon State Police  - 06/27/18 Fish and Wildlife Division troopers from the Mid-Valley Team (Salem/Albany) served search warrants on the residence of Nathan J. Rice (age 40) of Sweet Home.  Rice is a convicted felon, on post-prison supervision, and is currently serving a lifetime hunting suspension.  Troopers received information Rice was in possession of multiple firearms and wildlife parts associated with two unlawfully killed buck deer.  The search yielded eight firearms, many of which were fully loaded, and multiple sets of trophy black tailed deer and elk antlers.  The troopers seized the firearms, antlers, and game meat.  Rice was lodged at the Linn County Jail on a parole violation detainer and issued criminal citations for Possession of Firearm by Felon (8 counts), Take/Possession Buck Deer (17 counts), Take/Possession Bull Elk (2 counts), Lend/Borrow Big Game Tag, Exceeding Bag Limit of Game Mammal, and Aiding in...

Bend Police Officer Involved Shooting on Highway 97 near Cooley Road

Bend Police Dept.  - 06/27/18 On June 26th at 11:34 pm, a Bend Police Officer made a traffic stop on Cooley Road and Highway 97. During the traffic stop, an officer involved shooting occurred. The driver of the vehicle is deceased. Two Bend Police Officers were involved in this incident. The Deschutes County Major Incident Team has been activated, following the investigative protocols outlined in Senate Bill 111. Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office will be the lead investigative agency. Any future information will be released in coordination with the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office.

ROSEBURG POLICE ASKING FOR HELP TO I.D. ARSON SUSPECT

Roseburg Police Department 6/26/2018 The Roseburg Police Department is asking for public assistance in identifying an arson suspect. On June 24th, 2018 just after 11:00 PM, the Roseburg Police and Fire Departments responded to a reported fire on the outside of a business in the 700 block of SE Stephens. It appeared someone had started a fire on some materials that were leaned against the building, and the fire quickly spread up the exterior of the building. There were no suspects identified at the time, but w e later discovered some video surveillance footage from a nearby security system which showed the suspect starting the fire and running away. There are several still photos taken from that footage, and we are asking for your assistance in identifying the suspect. Suspicious death Hwy 213 and Interstate 205

Oregon State Police  - 06/26/18 Members of the Clackamas County Major Crimes Team are investigating a suspicious death at the intersection of Highway 213 and Interstate 205. On June 26, 2018 the Oregon City Police Department responded to the location around 12:30 pm, after receiving a report of a deceased person.  The investigation is ongoing and no additional details are available for release at this time. Scottsburg Man Arrested for Arson

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office  - 06/26/18  SCOTTSBURG, Ore.  – At 7:11 am, June 26, 2018, Douglas County 9-1-1 received a call of a structure fire with suspicious circumstances in the 200-block of Burchard Drive. Firefighters from Scottsburg, Reedsport, North Douglas and Elkton Fire Departments were dispatched to the blaze along with the deputies from the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies contacted 27 year-old Scottsburg resident Kayn Oshley and eventually took him into custody. Oshley was transported to the Douglas County Jail where he was lodged on the following charges: Arson I Criminal Mischief I Detectives are continuing their investigation at this time. Personnel from Douglas Electric, the American Red Cross, Oregon State Police and Oregon State Fire Marshall’s Office assisted at the scene.

Crime Stoppers of Oregon  - 06/26/18  The Portland Police Bureau, in cooperation with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public's help in solving the 2011 homicide of Leonard "LJ" Irving. This investigation began on Sunday June 26, 2011 at 12:37 a.m., when North Precinct officers responded to reports of a shooting at Northeast 82nd Avenue and Thompson Street. Officers arriving in the area located 34-year-old Leonard James "LJ" Irving deceased as a result of a gunshot wound. Officers located a second man, Lamar Lovette Hill, suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck. A third man, Jeray Lashawn Jessie, walked into an area hospital sometime later with a gunshot wound to the forearm. Both Hill and Jessie were 21 years old at the time of the shooting. Detectives determined that there was some sort of disturbance, resulting in gunfire that injured the two men and killed Mr. Irving, a father of three young children. Man With Dementia Found Thanks to Alert Citizen

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office  - 06/26/18  ROSEBURG, Ore.  - An elderly Roseburg man was found early Monday morning after being reported missing by family.  At 6:22 am, Deputies were notified that 80 year-old Merle Cummings had walked away from a residence in the 3300-block of Broad Street sometime between midnight and 6:00 am. It was relayed that Mr. Cummings suffered from dementia.  Deputies and Search and Rescue were deployed to the area and began looking for Mr. Cummings. As part of the search, the Sheriff's Office activated the Douglas County Citizen Emergency Notification System (DCENS). This system calls residents within a designated area to inform them of emergencies and alerts.  At 7:26 am, a citizen called to report observing an elderly male with a walker in her back field in the 200-block of W. Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office  - 06/26/18 On June 25, 2018, the driver of the truck that struck the bicyclist in the area of Skyline Ranch Road and Macalpine Road turned himself into detectives in the lobby of the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office in Bend. Travis J. Roberts of Bend contacted detectives and was subsequently arrested on charges of Assault III, Fail to Perform the Duties of a Driver to Injured Persons - Felony, and Reckless Driving. He was then lodged in the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office Adult Jail. The truck involved in this crash, a blue 1997 Toyota Tacoma, has been located and seized as evidence.
