WANTED MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY WITH USE OF K9

Sheriff's Office A wanted 26-year-old Roseburg man who ran from law enforcement was taken into custody with the assistance of K9 Eros.    On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, shortly before 6:00 p.m., a Roseburg officer observed Kai Preston Valente walking on S.E. Pine Street. Knowing he was wanted by his Parole Officer, the officer attempted to stop Valente who ran ensuing a foot pursuit despite being told he was under arrest. Valente was eventually located hiding under a bridge with a steep embankment beneath him. The officers requested the assistance of a K9 unit.    Douglas County Sheriff's Office K9 Eros was dispatched to the incident. Valente continued to be non-compliant, ignoring numerous law enforcement's commands. After multiple warnings from officers about the presence of the dog and what would happen if he was released, K9 Eros was deployed and took control of Valente until he was taken into custody. Deputies Arrest Male Hiding in Residence After Less Lethal Pistol Shooting

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office On April 2nd at about 3:30 a.m., Lane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a property in the 25800 block of Sundown Drive east of Crow for a report of a person who had been shot. Deputies were able to determine the victim was in a travel trailer on the property and contacted him for medical care. The victim had been shot multiple times by a self-defense less lethal pistol, causing significant injury. Deputies then contacted multiple people at a residence on the property before finally locating the suspect, Morgan Dakoda Barnum, 26, of Eugene, hiding inside. Woman Arrested Near Florence For Attempting To Light Truck On Fire

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office   On March 28th at about 12:40 p.m., a Lane County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a reported arson on Sutton Outlet Road near Florence. A person running in the area returned to their vehicle and found a sock burning in the gas tank cap. He was able to extinguish it, and fire responded to ensure it was extinguished. The victim had also observed a female, later identified as Elizabeth Louise Jeffery, 33, of Texas, walking away from his vehicle. A US Forest Service employee was in the area, and Jeffery climbed on top of their vehicle. The deputy and an Oregon State Trooper were able to convince Jeffery to get down, and found she was in possession of a sock that matched the burnt one. After additional investigation, Jeffery was arrested for Arson in the 1st Degree and lodged at the Lane County Jail. Sgt. Siletz Woman Arrested for Abandoning Her Dogs and False Report

Lincoln Co. Sheriff's Office   On March 26, 2025, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) arrested 63-year-old Nickie Young of Siletz, OR after she reported finding two dogs abandoned near milepost 30 of Siletz Highway. Through investigation, Animal Services Deputies determined that Nickie was the owner of both dogs and had reported finding them abandoned because she no longer wanted them. LCSO took protective custody of the dogs and transferred them to an out-of-county partner facility for adoption. Ms. Young is charged with initiating a false report, an A-misdemeanor, and abandoning an animal, a B-misdemeanor.    The LCSO Animal Services Division provides Law Enforcement services in cases related to animal abuse and neglect, and for enforcement of animal-related violations. THREE ARRESTED AFTER SHOOTING

Hillsboro Police Department On Monday, March 31st, shortly after 8:30 PM, HPD officers responded to a shooting at the ARCO on NE Cornell Road. When officers arrived at the location, they found bystanders beginning lifesaving efforts on an injured adult victim. Arriving officers continued these efforts. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive.  Officers quickly learned three juvenile suspects left the location on foot. After an extensive 2-hour search, the suspects were located and taken into custody.  All three suspects were transported to the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Center on charges of Attempted Murder and Assault in the first degree.  We want to thank the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Beaverton Police Department, and Tigard Police Department for their assistance during the search for the suspects.  Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 503-629-0111 regarding case number 25-6340. DRIVER KILLED IN SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH ON TERRITORIAL ROAD

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office On March 31st at about 9:30 p.m., Lane County Sheriff’s deputies responded with fire personnel to a single vehicle crash on Territorial Road near Doane Road, south of Crow.   The vehicle, a 2005 Chevy Malibu, left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a tree. The driver was the only occupant and was killed in the crash.   The cause of the crash is under investigation, and the identity of the involved is being withheld until next of kin are notified.
