Eugene Police Department At 3:28 a.m. on January 3, Central Lane 911 received a call regarding a person lying in the middle of the road at W. 11th Avenue and Oak Patch Road. The person appeared to have been struck by a vehicle. Eugene Police responded along with Eugene Springfield Fire. The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.  Eastbound W. 11th was blocked and traffic was shut down on W. 11th between Oak Path and Commerce. Parts of the involved vehicle were left on scene and officers were able to get into contact with the driver, who returned to the location.  EPD’s Major Collision Investigation team is investigating the crash. Eugene Police Department At 2:02 p.m. on December 31, Eugene Police responded to W. 6th Avenue and Blair Boulevard after crash. All three involved vehicles were going westbound on W. 6th Avenue at Blair Boulevard, where the far left lane merges to the right. Porsha Naree Mueller, age 34, later identified as the driver of a Mazda, was in the merge lane and merged into a tractor trailer semi and struck the front left corner of the semi. The semi swerved to the right when it was struck and was forced to the right, and into a Ford Explorer’s lane. The driver of the Ford Explorer sped ahead of the semi. Mueller is reported to have merged in front of the semi and was behind the Ford Explorer and rear-ended it. Cottage Grove Police Department On 01/01/2025 at about 12:07 AM South Lane 9-1-1 received a report of a suspected kidnapping that had just occurred at El Tapatio Restaurant located at 725 E. Gibbs Ave. in Cottage Grove.  Cottage Grove Police Officers were nearby and responded immediately to the location where they contacted witnesses to the incident.   During the subsequent investigation it was reported to officers that Austin K. Waskiewicz was observed confronting his girlfriend at the south entrance to the restaurant while brandishing a firearm and demanded that she come with him.  After a brief argument the two left the restaurant together in their vehicle and returned to their residence at 40 Sweet Ln. in Cottage Grove.
