Motorcycle Traveling Recklessly on I-5 Crashes, Killing Rider

CENTRAL POINT, Ore. – A motorcycle crashed this morning on I-5 north near milepost 34, killing the rider. Oregon State Police (OSP) is leading the investigation.
Approximately two minutes before the crash, a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputy clocked the motorcycle on I-5 north at milepost 30 traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour. There were also multiple witnesses reporting the motorcyclist riding recklessly. The deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, activating his lights and siren. The motorcycle continued at a high rate of speed before crashing into a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) at milepost 34 at 10:53 AM. Fire District 3 and Mercy Flights responded and the rider was pronounced deceased at the scene. The identity of the decedent will be released pending next of kin notification.
