UPDATE: Man Suspected of Groping Child Arrested

Portland Police Bureau 

On Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at approximately 7:25 p.m., an alert community member called 911 to report the location of the man suspected of groping a child in a Southeast Portland grocery store. Officers responded to the area of Southeast 52nd Avenue and Southeast Duke Street and arrested Adam M. Caldwell, 42, of Portland. Caldwell was transported to the Multnomah County Detention Center and lodged on the following charge: Sex Abuse in the Third Degree.

No further information will be released as this case remains under investigation. The Portland Police Bureau would like to thank the community for assistance with this case.

The Portland Police Bureau’s Central Neighborhood Response Team (NRT) is asking for help in identifying a suspect in an incident at a Southeast Portland grocery store in June of 2024.

On Thursday, June 20, 2024, Central Precinct officers responded to reports of sexual abuse at a grocery store in the 3800 block Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard. When officers arrived, they determined an adult male inappropriately touched a 10-year-old girl before fleeing.

PPB is releasing surveillance photos of the man wanted in connection to the incident. The suspect is described as a white male, 35-55 years of age, 5’7”- 6’0” and driving a 2009-2014 Subaru Outback.
