FIREFIGHTERS RESPOND TO BRUSH FIRE IN WEST EUGENE

Eugene Springfield Fire

Eugene, OR.  Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a vegetation fire along the tracks off Seneca road Just south of Valley Milling and Lumber. Firefighters were alerted at 8:53 PM on July 26th.  Battalion 2 scouted the area to find the best access to safely attack the fire.  Due to access challenges, a brush engine from the Bailey Hill station made their way down the train tracks to attack the fire while an engine from the bethel area made access into the lumber yard to protect lumber stacks from embers and fire extension. The fire was placed under control with limited property damage and no injuries. Central Lane Communications worked with the railroad to ensure rail traffic was stopped in the area to protect crew safety.
