Coos County Man Follows Victim, Leading to Her Hiding and Calling 911
On February 18th, 2024, around 6:05 pm, Coos County Dispatch received a 911 call from a female hiding in her vehicle up a driveway along Geneva Lane in North Bend. The woman identified Joel Gimlin (37), as a suspect that was following her and ramming her vehicle while she was driving with a minor child. The victim further reported that Mr. Gimlin was parked down the driveway, waiting for her to leave. Deputies M.R. Smith and K. Mong responded to assist.
Upon their arrival, Deputies conducted a thorough investigation. Deputies found Mr. Gimlin parked at the bottom of the residence’s driveway, as reported by the female. Deputy Smith located the female parked out of sight a distance up the driveway, and she only came forward upon recognizing Deputy Smith as law enforcement.
Deputies learned that an argument between the couple took place and when the female departed with the minor child, Mr. Gimlin followed. There was evidence that Mr. Gimlin had bumped into the back of the female’s car using his vehicle, which put her in fear of injury for herself and the minor child.
Mr. Gimlin was arrested for Menacing Domestic, Reckless Driving, and (2) counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person. Mr. Gimlin was transported to the Coos County Jail where he was booked, processed, and remains in custody.
