SUSPECT LOCATED IN FATAL HIT-AND-RUN CRASH

Gresham, Ore.— The 17-year-old suspect in a fatal hit-and-run case has been located. Shortly before 6:30 p.m. last night, Gresham police officers and medical personnel responded to a fatal traffic collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian on E Burnside Rd. at 181 Ave. The pedestrian died from his injuries while the driver fled the scene in his vehicle. The driver then abandoned his vehicle when it became disabled due to the damage from the collision.
The East Metro Vehicular Crimes Team (VCT) responded to the scene and is investigating the crash. The 17-year-old suspect was located by officers when he returned to his residence in Gresham. The case is still under investigation and VCT members are working with the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office. The name of the victim is being withheld pending identification by the medical examiner and notification of family.
