MULTIPLE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY RESPONSE IN RURAL SOUTH SALEM TO HELP SEARCH FOR A STABBING SUSPECT CREATED SEVERAL ROAD CLOSURES

Marion Co. Sheriff's Office

On November 8, 2023, at about 4:00 pm, Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance in the 4300 block of Viewcrest Rd. S, just outside the City of Salem.  Several Sheriff’s deputies immediately responded to the scene and, upon their arrival, found a 32-year-old female victim who had been stabbed.  She was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment for her injuries, where she is in stable condition.  It was also reported an animal had been stabbed.

Deputies immediately started searching the rural wooded area around the residence for the male suspect, who was believed to be possibly armed.  Law enforcement from multiple agencies responded to assist, and the Marion County Interagency SWAT Team was called out; numerous roadways in the area were closed during the search.

At about 8:19 pm, the suspect was found on the property needing medical attention.  He was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.  Once released from the hospital, he will be taken to and lodged at the Marion County Jail for charges including attempted murder in the second degree, assault in the first degree, unlawful use of a weapon, Endangering a Person Protected by a Family Abuse Protection Act Order, Animal Abuse in the first degree, and Contempt of Court.

We want to thank the community for their patience during this incident and all our agency partners who responded to assist and provide other equipment needed to help bring this situation to a safe resolution.  Those agencies are the Woodburn Police Department, Salem Police Department, Oregon State Police, Salem Fire Department, Falck Ambulance, Willamette Valley Communication Center (911 Dispatch), and Marion County Public Works.
