Alert neighbor calls in burglary resulting in two guns being removed from the street
On April 6, 2023, at 11:10 a.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a call of a burglary in progress occurring at a residence near the intersection of Cape Arago Hwy and Beacon Lane just south of Coos Bay.
Sgt. A. Slater responded, and upon arrival, the suspect, later identified as Jordan J. Duvall (33) of Coos Bay, began to flee from the location on his bicycle. Sgt. Slater eventually stopped Mr. Duvall with the assistance of Deputy M.R. Smith.
Mr. Duvall admitted to trespassing on the property as had been previously reported and denied owning the property. Mr. Duvall also had several outstanding warrants for his arrest. Additionally, Deputies removed two fully loaded Simi-automatic 9mm firearms from Mr. Duvall, one in his front jacket pocket and the other in his backpack.
Mr. Duvall was arrested on the outstanding warrants and charged additionally with two counts of felon in possession of a firearm and criminal trespass. Mr. Duvall was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and remains in custody.
The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the concerned citizen who called Mr. Duvall’s suspicious behavior into dispatch for police response.
