15-YEAR-OLD PASSENGER IN CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER DUII CRASH, INVESTIGATORS SEEK WITNESSES

On Saturday evening, April 22, 2023, at approximately 10:50 p.m. a 911 caller reported a single-vehicle rollover crash on Lancaster Drive NE, north of Silverton Road NE. When emergency responders arrived, they located the driver and a 15-year-old passenger at the scene of the crash. A third occupant from the gray 2006 Mazda 6 is reported to have ran from the car before deputies arrived.

The 15-year-old male passenger sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash and was taken to an area hospital by ambulance. The passenger is currently in critical condition.

The driver of the Mazda, Fernando Guzman Guzman (20), was also transported to an area hospital for evaluation following the crash. Guzman Guzman was arrested for Driving While Under the Influence of Intoxicants and Assault in the 2nd Degree. He is currently lodged at the Marion County Jail, scheduled for arraignment Monday, April 24, 2023 at 2:30 p.m.

Investigators from the Marion County multi-agency Crash Team were called out to investigate the crash. Preliminary information shows the gray 2006 Mazda 6 was traveling northbound before the crash. 

Investigators are asking for anyone who witnessed the crash or who can provide information about the third occupant who ran from the vehicle to contact Sr. Dep. Todd Sphoon at 503-798-8319 or by texting TIPMCSO and their anonymous tip to 847411.
