TWO OUT-BUILDINGS AND A RV BURN IN EARLY MORNING FIRE
Two small out-buildings and one RV were lost in an early morning in Melrose. Firefighters with Douglas County Fire District No. 2 were dispatched at 5:20 a.m. to a report of possibly two barns on fire in the 200 block of Snowberry Rd. in Melrose. Crews arrived on scene and found one out-building fully involved in fire spreading to another small outbuilding and a fifth wheel trailer. Crews verified all residents were accounted for and out of the buildings and trailer.
Crews with Fire District No. 2 worked to extinguish the fire and remained on scene mopping up and looking for hot spots. Both out-buildings and the RV are considered a complete loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Douglas County Fire District No. 2 responded to the incident with 9 firefighters which included 3 fire engines, 2 water tenders, and 1 command vehicle. They were assisted by Lookingglass Fire District.
