Packard Turkey Fires
Packard Turkey Fires: During the early morning of Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at approximately 2:26 a.m., crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association and Canyonville-South Umpqua Fire District responded to a 1/8th of an acre roadside fire located in Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land along Packard Creek Road in Canyonville, ORE.
Upon investigation, an additional fire, .01 acres in size was found at 2:58 am, .03 miles Northeast of the original fire, in privately owned and managed lands. This small burn pile was extinguished immediately, and resources returned to help aid with fire suppression on the original fire.
At 2:43 pm, the fire was 100% trailed, mopped up and cleared.
The cause for both fires were found to be human-caused and are currently under investigation.
