FATAL PLANE CRASH AT SALEM AIRPORT

Salem, Ore. — Saturday, January 29, 2022, at approximately 3:00 p.m. the Salem Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the call of plane crash at the Salem Municipal Airport. When emergency crews arrived, they located a single aircraft had crashed near the end of a runway. Initial witness statements indicated the plane had been attempting to land when the crash occurred.   

Both occupants of the plane were declared deceased at the scene and have not been identified. The investigation and further informational releases will be handled by the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board.
