FATAL CRASH ON HWY 34-LINN COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Sunday, January 30, 2022, at approximately 7:42 PM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Hwy 34 near milepost 16 west of Denney School Road.  Preliminary investigation revealed a pedestrian, identified as Lanny R. Aerni (71) of Lebanon, was in the lanes of travel when he was struck by a westbound white Chevrolet Astro Van, operated by Colby D. Montigue (22) of Sweet Home. Aerni was collecting debris from the roadway at the time of the crash.  Aerni sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. OSP was assisted by Linn County Sheriff’s Office and ODOT.

Myrtle Creek Police Believe There May Be More Victims

Myrtle Creek Police Department On the evening of January 26, 2022, the Myrtle Creek Police Department became aware of a case involving sex crimes to a juvenile female.  During the investigation the suspect was identified as 78-year-old Michael Wetherbee of Myrtle Creek.   On Saturday, January 29, 2022 at about 12:00 PM, Wetherbee was contacted on a traffic stop by Myrtle Creek police and deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.  Wetherbee was taken into custody without incident.   Officers responded to an apartment complex in the 700 block of NE Johnson Street to serve a search warrant on Wetherbee’s residence.  During the investigation it was found that Wetherbee had what appeared to be two hand grenades hanging on his living room wall. Oregon State Police Bomb Squad responded and assisted with the removal of two inert grenades from the residence.   After evidence was collected police interviewed Wetherbee, who admitted to sexually abusing the juvenile female, as well as tak

POLICE SEEK HELP LOCATING MISSING 15-YEAR-OLD

Gresham Police Dept ***Update: Brianna has been located and reunited with her family.*** Gresham, Ore.—Gresham Police is asking for the public’s assistance in finding a missing 15-year-old, Kianna Edwards. Kianna left her home near Kelly Creek Elementary School at approximately 4:00 p.m. Kianna was upset when she left her home causing her family to be concerned for her well-being. Kianna is 4-feet-10-inches tall and weighs 95 pounds. Kianna’s family described her as a black female with light complexion and braids. She was last seen wearing light blue jeans, black tank top, and black Nike slides. Kianna is likely wearing an unknown color jacket. Kianna has a black purse that she wears as a backpack and possibly another bag with her. Anyone who knows of Kianna’s whereabouts is asked to call non emergency at 503.823.3333.

DUII, ASSAULT III, VEHICLE VS PEDESTRIAN

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On January 29, 2022, at approximately 1100 hours, Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, Bureau of Land Management Ranger, Illinois Valley Fire and American Medical Response responded to a vehicle vs pedestrian crash on Holland Loop near Takilma Rd. The male pedestrian was transported by AMR to Three Rivers Medical Center for injuries sustained in the crash. Upon investigation it was found that prior to the crash, Theresa Dugas had been in a verbal argument with the male pedestrian/victim.  The male pedestrian was walking home when Dugas struck him with her vehicle.   Dugas was believed to be operating a motor vehicle upon a public roadway while under the influence of intoxicants. Dugas was lodged at the Josephine County Jail for DUII, Reckless Driving and Domestic Assault III.   This case has been referred to the Josephine County District Attorney’s Office and further details will not be released.  

FATAL PLANE CRASH AT SALEM AIRPORT

Salem Police Department Salem, Ore.  — Saturday, January 29, 2022, at approximately 3:00 p . m .  the Salem Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the call of plane crash at the  Salem Municipal Airport . When emergency crews arrived, they located a single aircraft had crashed near the end of a runway. Initial witness statements indicated the plane had been attempting to land when the crash occurred.    Both occupants of the plane were declared deceased at the scene and have not been identified. FATAL CRASH ON HWY 99E-MARION COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Friday, January 28, 2022 at approximately 1:25 PM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a motorcycle crash on Hwy 99E near milepost 34. Preliminary investigation revealed a southbound Kawasaki motorcycle, operated by David Johnson (54) of Woodburn, was traveling at high rate of speed when it left the roadway and went into a field. The motorcycle struck a telephone pole guywire and caught on fire.  Johnson sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.  Hwy 99E traffic was impacted for approximately 3 hours. OSP was assisted on scene by Woodburn Fire Department and ODOT.

FUGITIVE ARREST

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On January 28, 2022, Deputies obtained information that a wanted fugitive, Jason Taylor, was in a trailer in the 100 Block of Speaker Road Wolf Creek. Taylor had six confirmed warrants for his arrest. Three of the warrants were out of Douglas County, one warrant was out of the Oregon State Parole Board, and two warrants were out of Yolo and Siskiyou Counties in California. Some of the warrants dated back to 2014. Taylor was taken into custody without incident and lodged at the Josephine County Jail on the above-mentioned warrants. 

NATURAL GAS LEAK - 555 SE KANE STREET

Roseburg Fire Dept. At 10:04 a.m. on January 28, 2022, Roseburg Fire Department personnel responded to a reported natural gas line rupture and a significant leak of natural gas at 555 SE Kane Street.  Upon arrival on scene, firefighters determined a ¾ inch natural gas line had been damaged by construction equipment.  Firefighters coordinated evacuations and shelter in place for a four to six block radius of the above listed address as Avista / Michels Utility Services worked to cap the damaged line.  Fire department personnel also provided traffic control as traffic was routed around the area. The line was capped safely at 11:07 a.m. and occupants were allowed to return to normal business operations. The Roseburg Fire Department would like to remind everyone to be aware of underground utilities while doing site work and home improvement projects.  Before breaking ground, call 811 or go to  www.digsafelyoregon.com .

DAVID DUWAYNE JOHNSON SENTENCED TO 75 MONTHS IN PRISON IN CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE CASE

Washington Co. District Attorney's Office HILLSBORO, Ore.- On January 26, 2022, David Duwayne Johnson, age 52, pleaded guilty to first degree sexual abuse and two counts of public indecency. Washington County Circuit Court Judge Beth Roberts sentenced the defendant to 75 months in prison. Deputy District Attorney Sara Loebner prosecuted the case against Mr. Johnson.  The defendant is a registered sex offender. In March of 2021, he entered the room of a young girl as she slept. He then sexually assaulted her. The victim reported the abuse to a friend who then alerted an adult. Cornelius police investigated the case. They confronted Mr. Johnson with these allegations. The defendant admitted he did engage in inappropriate contact with the victim. The public indecency convictions stem from two separate incidents involving the defendant. JAIME GOMEZ-FIGUEROA SENTENCED TO 25 YEARS IN PRISON

Washington Co. District Attorney's Office HILLSBORO, Ore.- On January 27, 2022, Jaime Gomez-Figueroa pleaded guilty to first degree rape and two counts of first degree sexual abuse. Washington County Circuit Court Judge Ricardo Menchaca then sentenced the defendant to 25 years in prison. Deputy District Attorney Sara Loebner prosecuted the case against Mr. Gomez-Figueroa.  The victim in this case is now an adult. She reported sexual abuse perpetrated by the defendant that occurred when she was a child. She recalled multiple incidents of abuse that went on for several years.  The victim confronted the defendant with these allegations. He admitted to the abuse. Hillsboro police also interviewed Mr. Gomez-Figueroa. He confessed that he inappropriately touched and abused the victim.  The Washington County District Attorney’s Office wishes to commend the victim in this case for her bravery in bringing these allegations forward and for participating in the court process. POLICE SEARCHING FOR MISSING 14-YEAR-OLD MALE

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.—Gresham Police are asking for the public’s help in locating 14-year-old Marcellus Ford.  Marcellus has a learning disorder and functions at the level of a 5-year-old.  Marcellus is a mixed race male, 5'-feet-7-inches, thin build, black hair shaved around the sides, and brown eyes.  He was last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt, black jacket, dark pants, black backpack, and white Nike shoes. Anyone who knows of Marcellus’ whereabouts is asked to call 911.

Albany Police Detective Involved in Shooting

Linn County Sheriff's Office On Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at approximately 6:22 pm members of the Linn Interagency Narcotics Enforcement team (LINE) and other patrol officers attempted to contact and arrest two subjects on multiple warrants. The suspect attempted to use his vehicle as a weapon and rammed multiple vehicles. An Albany detective fired one shot at the suspect in the vehicle but did not hit the suspect. LINE detectives and patrol officers from Albany Police, Linn County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police who were on scene, assisted in the apprehension of the suspects. The incident occurred in the parking lot of Bob’s Family Market at 2515 Geary Street, Albany.   The suspect, Kagen Ray Sandoval, age 31, of Corvallis was treated for minor injuries and released from a local area hospital. SEXUAL ASSAULT OF AN ANIMAL

Grants Pass Police Department On 01-26-2022, Detectives from the Grants Pass Police served a search warrant at 5900 block of Williams Hwy. with the assistance of the Josephine County Sheriff's Office and members of Rogue Area Drug Enforcement team.  The warrant was the result of an investigation into allegations of sexual assault of an animal by the listed arrestee, James Ficke.   Ficke was located at the residence and taken into custody without incident.  The search warrant was served and Ficke was later lodged in the Josephine County Jail on the above listed charges.  Josephine County Animal Control also responded and removed two dogs from the location for safe keeping.  Due to the case still being actively investigated, anyone with further information is asked to call Det. 15-YEAR SENTENCE FOR KYLE SHINN, 38, FOR SEXUALLY ABUSING A CHILD

Multnomah County District Attorney's Office PORTLAND, Oregon – Today Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt announced that Kyle Shinn, 38, was sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to Sodomy in the First Degree, Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, Solicitation to Commit Using a Child in a Display of Sexually Explicit Conduct and Tampering with a Witness. The child was 6 years old when Shinn abused her in the summer of 2018. Her parents contacted authorities after she disclosed the abuse. After being indicted, Shinn fled to evade authorities before being arrested by federal law enforcement in Iowa in April of 2019. Shinn has been in the Multnomah County Jail since. PUBLIC'S ASSISTANCE SOUGHT TO LOCATE WANTED GRESHAM MAN

Multnomah Co. Sheriff's Office The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office seeks the public’s assistance locating a wanted suspect who fled from deputies when they attempted to serve a search warrant on his vehicle. The suspect, 31-year-old Christopher Lee Denton, is wanted for drug crimes in Multnomah County. On Jan. 20, 2022, around 3:30 p.m., MCSO deputies approached Denton in his car at Southwest 19th Avenue and West Burnside Street. When deputies began giving him commands to exit the vehicle, he drove over a curb and onto the sidewalk, and sped away in his car east on Southwest Morrison Street. Deputies did not pursue Denton for safety reasons.  It was reported that Denton drove in opposing lanes of traffic, sped through red lights and put the public and pedestrians in significant danger. Deputies received a report that Denton hit and destroyed a set of bike racks at Southwest Morrison St. and Southwest 10 th  Ave. An additional report indicated Denton collided with another vehicle
