EPD Captures California Fugitive from Justice

Eugene Police Department

Eugene Police received an officer-safety bulletin regarding a suspect involved in a California officer-involved shooting and who has been targeting law enforcement. EPD contacted Riverside, California Federal Marshal's office and Corning Police Department in California.  The suspect, Garrett Roy Wilson, age 39, of Menifee, CA, had been reported to have broken into Corning Police Department’s  parking area and stolen a police short-barrel rifle from a secured Corning PD vehicle. On January 15 at 11:31 p.m., an EPD officer spotted the suspect’s vehicle driving the wrong way on W. 6th approaching his patrol vehicle.  The officer initiated a traffic stop and Wilson backed his vehicle away, into the McDonald’s parking lot. The officer was able to persuade Wilson to remain on scene and in his vehicle while other officers arrived. Wilson was safely taken into custody without further incident.
