Telephone Service Outage Affecting 911

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. - A CenturyLink telephone service outage is affecting approximately 1700 customers in the Sutherlin and Oakland areas. The outage may prevent residents in those areas from dialing 9-1-1 from their landline telephones. The telephone service provider is currently investigating the cause of the outage, and there is no estimated time of repair.
Residents who are affected may be able to dial 9-1-1 from a cellular device in the event of an emergency. Both Sutherlin and Oakland Fire Departments are also staffed with personnel while the issue is being resolved.
