Trespassers Arrested in Stolen Pickup

On June 17, 2019, at 5:42 a.m., a resident in the 6800-block of Wagner Creek Road reported a suspicious vehicle parked on her property with two men inside. Deputies responded to the scene, with assistance from Talent Police. They found Jacob Steven Emerson, 37, and Dane Michael Burke, 24, inside the vehicle. Both were taken into custody without incident.
The vehicle, a brown 1977 Chevrolet pickup, had been reported stolen on June 13 during a burglary at a vacant home in the 4000-block of Old Stage Road. Items taken in the burglary, as well as other stolen property, were recovered from the vehicle. The owners of the stolen property were contacted.
Emerson was lodged in the Jackson County jail on the following charges related to this incident: unauthorized use of a motor vehicle; first degree burglary; first degree theft; first degree criminal trespass; second degree criminal trespass. Emerson also had warrants for probation violation on prior convictions for unlawful distribution of methamphetamine, attempting to elude police, and reckless endangerment.
Burke was lodged in the Jackson County jail on the following charges related to this incident: first degree burglary; first degree theft; first degree criminal trespass; second degree criminal trespass.
“You never know how it will turn out,” said JCSO Sgt. Julie Denney. “This case started with a vehicle parked without permission on someone’s driveway, but deputies were able to clear a burglary case and return stolen property to the rightful owners.”

TALENT, Ore. – Two men reported to be trespassing near Talent on Monday morning were found in a pickup reported stolen near Central Point four days earlier. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies arrested both men and found additional stolen property in the vehicle.
