Fatal Crash Saturday Evening, Investigation Continuing

On Saturday, June 23, 2019, at 4:20 pm, Douglas County 911 received a call of a single vehicle crash in the area of Melqua Road/Youngs Lane. Deputies arrived to find a 2010 Toyota Tacoma which had left the roadway and struck a tree at a high rate of speed.
Douglas County Fire District #2 worked to extricate the occupants from the vehicle. The passenger, 48 year-old Roseburg resident Cynthia Lynn Hallen was declared deceased at the scene. The driver, 57 year-old Dana Todd Hallen was transported to Mercy Medical Center by ambulance. He was later transferred to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend where he remains in stable condition.
Deputies are continuing their investigation. Alcohol does appear to be a contributing factor. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Douglas County Sheriff's Office at 541-440-4471 referencing case #19-2822.
Next of kin has been notified. The Sheriff's Office was assisted by Douglas County Fire District #2, Bay Cities Ambulance.
