Newberg woman attempts to jump off bypass bridge

This afternoon at approximately 3:25 a caller reported that a female was attempting to climb over the steel fencing connected to the flyover bridge that crosses Hwy 18 (Newberg-Dundee by-pass). Officers responded to the scene to find the female all the way over attempting to jump off and into the traffic below.
NDPD Officers were able to grab the female and pin her to the fencing. NDPD then called for TVF&R to bring a ladder truck onto the bypass so they could remove her from the bridge. The woman was fighting with officers the entire time trying to get free and jump.

Officers from NDPD were able to secure the woman to the ladder truck and safely remove her. The woman was then taken to Providence Medical Center for a mental health evaluation. There are no criminal charges at the time of this release.
