Woman Arrested on Multiple Charges After Vehicle Pursuit

August 19, 2018 – A woman was arrested on multiple charges after a vehicle pursuit that ended with a car on its top outside a Hillsboro business complex. No one was injured.
On Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 10:40 p.m., a Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputy assigned to the Traffic Safety Unit attempted to stop a 1995 Honda Civic that was driving recklessly and without headlights in the area of NW 185th Avenue and Walker Road in Hillsboro.
The driver did not stop and instead drove recklessly in an attempt to elude deputies. The pursuit lasted approximately three minutes before the Honda struck a curb, a tree and lost control outside a business complex in the 3600 block of NW John Olsen Place in Hillsboro. The car ultimately landed on its top. Fortunately, no one was injured.
The driver was identified as Cathie F. Ropati, 22, of Hillsboro. Deputies learned she had a felony warrant for absconding on drug charges. Ms. Ropati is now also charged with the following crimes:
Traffic safety and DUII enforcement are priorities for the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies consistently arrest nearly 1,000 impaired drivers each year.

- Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (Controlled Substance)
- Reckless Driving
- Reckless Endangering (x2)
- Attempt to Elude (Felony)
- Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree
