Winston City Police Chief Scott Gugel Retires

Winston Police Chief Scott Gugel is retiring and a celebration to honor him is being held Thursday afternoon.

Gugel was sworn in as a Reserve patrolman in Winston at the start of 1989. He became a full-time officer two months later. In 2004 he became the Chief of Police. Gugel had the dual role of also being the City Manager in Winston from August of 2015 until May of 2016.

Community members will gather to honor Chief Gugel from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Winston Community Center on Southeast Grape Avenue. Call Winston City Hall at 679-6739 for more information.

Lieutenant Brandon Sarti will be taking over as the City of Winston Police Chief.
