On Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported animal complaint on the 15700 block of S. Highway 211 in Molalla.

The reporting party told dispatchers that her dog Rudy was missing -- and that her neighbor, Preston L. Gorbett, claimed to have shot the animal, a Golden Retreiver.

Deputies arrived at the scene and interviewed the suspect and witnesses. They determined that Preston L. Gorbett had shot Rudy in the face with a 44 Magnum handgun and that probable cause existed to arrest Gorbett on charges of Aggravated Animal Abuse in the First Degree.

Preston Gorbett was taken into custody and transported to Clackamas County Jail. His booking photo is attached.

Rudy was transported to a local animal hospital, where he is expected to survive.
