Newton, Hobbs, and Buckley were stopped on the Oak street bridge for a train. Tate was unable to stop and hit Newton. The impact of the collision forced Newton's vehicle into the rear of Hobbs' vehicle, which then was pushed it into the back of Buckley's vehicle. Newton, who was hit first, sustained injuries to her hand and elbow. There were no other reported injuries. The vehicles of Tate and Newton appeared to be totaled and were towed by Roseburg Towing.

Montgomery locked himself in his bedroom because he feared Lozes was going to harm him. His brother-in-law, Lozes, allegedly threatened to assault him with a hammer. Montgomery was able to exit the residence and call police. Lozes refused to comply with officers and locked the residence, stopping anyone from entering. As Officers made entry into the house, Lozes ran out the back door and continued to disobey orders to stop. Lozes was tased and then arrested without further incident.
