On Sunday morning (June 24, 2018), Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol deputies were dispatched to an abandoned boat in the Willamette River near the Sportcraft Landing in Oregon City.
Deputies arrived to find a sinking 1988 Bayliner covered in a silver tarp.
The rear transom of the boat was cut out below the water line, and the engine was removed. The boat was filled with household trash and construction debris.
Someone had also attempted to grind off all of the identifying numbers on the boat.
Witnesses reported the boat may have been launched at the Sportcraft Landing boat launch Saturday afternoon.
