Impaired Driver Crashes Car Injuring her Child

March 30, 2018 – Yesterday, deputies arrested an impaired driver after she crashed into a parked car, injuring her child passenger.
On Friday, March 30, 2018, at 6:18 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to a reported heavily intoxicated female at 7700 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Highway. It was reported the female placed a small child in a white Chevy Cruze and drove away. The concerned citizen did provide a license plate number.
A Sheriff’s Deputy located the Chevy as it was driving westbound on SW Farmington Road. The Sheriff’s Deputy tried to stop the Chevy but the driver failed to stop. The car accelerated and sped westbound on SW Farmington Road, not stopping at red lights. For safety reasons, the Sheriff’s Deputy did not pursue the vehicle.
A few minutes later, a Sheriff’s Deputy found the Chevy that had crashed into two parked cars on SW 195th Avenue close to SW Crisp Drive. There was extensive damage to the vehicles.
Sheriff’s Deputies found 32-year-old Christine Ray was driving the Chevy with her 20-month-old child in the back seat. Although the child was in a car seat, the car seat was not properly secured and was thrown about the car in the crash. The child received non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital trauma enter.
Ms. Ray’s blood-alcohol content was over three times the legal limit. She was arrested and lodged in the Washington County Jail.
